If I’m counting correctly and watching others’ posts, I believe Monday, April 22 should be S. So I’m playing yet more catch-up by combining R and S. Interesting though, these two words “right-size” and “stretch” go hand inhand

Hello anyone who's still following my blog! I haven't written in almost a year - and for quite a few months before that I'd been sporadic in my posting - because I've been struggling with what direction I wanted to take this blog. About 15 years ago, my then 4-yr-old daughter (and husband) gifted me with a long brown, flowing cotton sweater wrap for my birthday. I loved it! I wore it often. QUICK NOTES
For the past few years, I’ve kept a folder in my OneDrive titled “Article Options.” I jot a quick one line note and save a document when I'm on the go. I intend to write a full blog post or article LATER. And later rarely comesI either forget what I wanted to say, orthe

A few days ago, a memory of a 2015 Facebook post popped up on my timeline – and unlike many other memories that I ignore – I took a look at this one and decided to share. The topic was “The Front Porch.” As a kid and a teen, I loved sitting on our front WHEN WILL WE LISTEN AND LEARN? I wrote the first draft of this post before the heinous attempted coup at the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, January 6, 2021. That said, I believe what I write here – but to be very clear, what I say midway through cannot be forgotten: When your opinion begins to impinge upon the lived experience and safety of another person, it is no longer an opinion or a cause to fight FOR. DO LIFE – JANET MARY COBB As the layer of ice melts from the river and temperatures creep above freezing in the city of Chicago, hibernating residents crawl from their lair's to soak up fresh air and any sunshine that might peak through the clouds. Watching Chicago come alive each spring invigorates me and pulls me out of the dreary, stubbornDIRTY HANDS
The weather here in Chicago and my schedule finally allowed me a few moments to get into my garden this week. Gardening is a recent addition to my list of enjoyable activities. I hesitate to claim it, or much else, as a hobby because I flit and float as the mood hits me.But a

I wanted these seasonal goals to focus on season-specific wellness - particularly to thrive in what can often be filled with 'winter blues'. Winter has certainly hit Chicago - with below zero wind chills and about SPRING WELLNESS (WINTER UPDATE #3) BUCKET LIST Transition back into my 3-season porch office space.; Transition morning 20-min jigsaw puzzle, SAD lamp, and meditation music routine to meditative journalling in my 3-season porch office with a cup of tea.; Beginning April 1, rise with the sunlight hour in the morning. Walk/bike to run errands not REQUIRING a car because of ‘load’, distance (beyond about 5 miles one way) or scheduling ATOZ HOLISTIC SELF-CARE: R IS FOR RIGHT-SIZE AND S IS FOR R: Right-size Somehow, I’ve gotten totally off track in my daily posts and completely missed R. If I’m counting correctly and watching others’ posts, I believe Monday, April 22 should be S. So I’m playing yet more catch-up by combining R and S. Interesting though, these two words “right-size” and “stretch” go hand inhand

HEROINE’S JOURNEY AT MIDLIFE In further exploring my writers’ craft, I recently listened to a video interview between Jerry Jenkins and Gloria Kempton in which Gloria spoke of the Hero’s Journey. A few days later, at the library, a title popped out at me, “The Writer's Journey: Mythic Structure for Writers” by Christopher Vogler – so I MY SELF-DIRECTED WRITERS’ RETREAT Part of the joy of being self-employed is setting my own schedule. I've managed to arrange all of my nonprofit client coaching sessions on Mon-Wed, enjoy Thursday as a mutual day off with my husband, and address administrative issues and reschedules on Fridays. This allows me to focus on writing, editing, tutoring, and relaxing on BITS-OF-JOY #29, 30 AND 31 Every day is a gift. Fill this day with joy.
