JACCC Plaza. The Plaza was designed by world-famous sculptor and designer Isamu Noguchi, a native of Los Angeles. The one-acre open area was added to the overall JACCC design at Noguchi's suggestion and is a valuable open space, hosting such annual events as Nisei Week, Fiesta Matsuri, FandangObon Festival, rousing Taiko gatherings and performances, Keiro no Hi, and other community events. COMMUNITY SPIRIT AWARD (CSA) Community Spirit Award. JACCC is excited to announce its Annual Community Spirit Awards, highlighting the tireless efforts of the unsung heroes of our community. As part of JACCC’s Virtual Annual Gala, we will recognize individuals who are making a significant impact in our community through arts, activism, social services, orbusiness.
KOTOHAJIME - JAPANESE AMERICAN CULTURAL & COMMUNITY CENTER One of the featured segments of Kotohajime is the goma ritual, which has been practiced for over 3,000 years and connects Shingon Buddhism to Vedic, Zoroastrian, and Jain religions. It is a ritual of purification in which wood is offered to a fire. The wood symbolizes prayers and human desire, while the fire symbolizes wisdom and compassion.During the pandemic, Hirokazu Kosaka offers the goma JAMES IRVINE JAPANESE GARDEN James Irvine Japanese Garden. Known as Seiryu-en or “Garden of the Clear Stream,” the garden is a hidden gem of Downtown Los Angeles and one of the wedding industry’s best-kept secrets for intimate, unique ceremonies and receptions. The award-winning garden features a 170 ft. stream flowing from a waterfall at the upper reaches of the CHILDREN'S DAY (KODOMO NO HI) May 5th is Children's Day, or Kodomo no Hi (子供の日), and was originally known as Tango no sekku (端午の節句). It became a national holiday in 1948, but it has been a day of celebration in Japan since ancient times. Today, under the 4th Iemoto Akane Teshigahara, the KINTSUGI — JAPANESE AMERICAN CULTURAL & COMMUNITY CENTER Overview. It is a ritual of purification in which wood is offered to a fire. Unshin Ohara (1861-1916), the founder of the Ohara School of Ikebana, was born in Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture.
