IRVING ARCHIVES & MUSEUM TO RECEIVE 2020 OBELISK AWARD The Irving Achives & Museum (AM) remains closed to the public at this time. Prior to the pandemic, IAM was honored to partner with the ThinkIndia Foundation to showcase the rich artistic traditions of Indian culture through India a la Art, an exhibition funded through an Irving Arts Center Innovation Grant. This effort resulted in IAM being named a recipient of a 2020 Obelisk Award, under the category of New Initiatives. Along with ten other individuals and organizations, the award will be presented virtually by the North Texas Business Council for the Arts on Tuesday, November17.

Mark you calendars for Santa Saturdays: December 5, 12 and 15! Each Saturday a new video* featuring holiday-themed stories read by a special guest from the North Pole. Who will it be? Santa’s Elves? Ms. Claus? Or Santa? Find our each Saturday. Put your coziest Christmas PJs on; get the hot cocoas ready and join us (virtually) forfree family fun!
*Videos will be posted below the Friday prior. 28TH ANNUAL HOLIDAY TREE EXHIBITION DECEMBER 5 – DECEMBER 31 VOTE FOR YOUR FAVORITE! A Holiday tradition now in its 28th year returns to Irving Arts Center as the galleries are transformed into a wonderland of spectacularly decorated Christmas Trees. Finding inspiration in this year’s theme, “Celebrating a Season of Music” various community groups and schools will put their decorated trees on display, beginning Dec 5 for both virtual and in-person viewing. You can see them in person, by reserving a time to view the trees during normal gallery hours, Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 5 PM. For virtual viewing log on to Irving Arts Center’s Facebookpage .
There the public will also have the opportunity to vote for their favorite decorated trees. Please note: due to the pandemic, there will be no in-person voting this year. All voting will be conducted by “liking” your favorite tree on Facebook. Those with the most “likes” will receive a cash prize!
