BEYOND THE PANDEMIC: TRANSFORMING FOOD SYSTEMS AFTER COVID Food systems need to be transformed if we are to meet the Sustainable Development Goals and increase resilience of these systems to shocks. The pandemic has provided useful lessons on opportunities and weaknesses that must be addressed. VOLATILE COFFEE PRICES: COVID-19 AND MARKET FUNDAMENTALS Over the past three months, coffee prices have experienced multiple spikes and high volatility. This is in contrast to world market prices of major staple foods, which have remained relatively stable. CASH TRANSFER AND INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE RESEARCH The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), the University of North Carolina (UNC), the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), the UNICEF Office of Research—Innocenti, and Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (JHSPH) have convened a collaborative research program on cash transfers and intimate partner violence (IPV). NATIONAL AGRICULTURE INVESTMENT PLAN (NAIP) Starting in 2016, IFPRI has led the provision of technical support to countries for next-generation National Agriculture Investment Plans (NAIPs) at the request of the African Union Commission (AUC) and NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency (NPCA).
