IN DEFENSE OF ANIMALS INDIA In Defense of Animals, India was launched on 31st October 1996. Immediately the project of neutering of street dogs was taken up. A small beginning was made in March 1997 in two garages of a residential colony in a suburb of Mumbai. For three years IDA India worked in small make shift camps. 1996. IN DEFENSE OF ANIMALS INDIA Foster Care & Adoption. Team IDA India is always very keen about getting our rescued orphan pups, kittens and abandoned dogs into, as we call them 'good and safe homes'. The animals we rescue whether infant or adult have usually gone through some trauma; some of them suffering from a very young age – just a few weeks old at times. In this center we have a total staff strength of 37 persons; 33 wardboys, 2 vets & 2 LSS. Besides this, we have 3 ambulances for catching and 3 smaller vans. learn more. IN DEFENSE OF ANIMALS INDIA There are 5 ambulances to bring in and release animals and operate as Mobile Clinics for spot treatment. Hectic activity that starts at 7.30 in the morning, ends at 8 p.m. after all the animals are given their evening meal, kennels and cages are cleaned and the animals retire for a peaceful night under supervision of the night staff. IN DEFENSE OF ANIMALS INDIA It is hard to believe, but Zeus came in to our Centre as a tiny kitten in 2015 with his three siblings. Three of them survived and are all with us, and Zeus is the biggest of the lot. When healthy kittens come in, we try our best to get them into foster care or get them adopted into a safe and loving home. IN DEFENSE OF ANIMALS INDIA Navi Mumbai Centre. Navi Mumbai was born across the Thane creek on reclaimed land, as a counter-magnet to draw away the population of Mumbai and decongest the city. IDA India has been asked to join this Committee for screening the people who wish to adopt these dogs.
