UIDAI the agency responsible for Aadhaar has launched an app named mAadhaar, an app for syncing Aadhaar data on mobile phones. The mAadhaar app is available only for Android OS and can be downloaded from the Google Play Store. This new app from UIDAI will let users share their Aadhaar info with third-party services. What does the mAadhaar app do and is it reliable is a big question. Let us find out all the details about the mAadhaar App by UIDAI. First and foremost download the app from Google Play Store on your Android Smartphone. Once you have installed and made the setup of the mAadhar app on your phone, your Aadhaar card profile including your number, address and other details will be stored on the app. This app enables its users to share their Aadhaar profile and data with third-party applications via NFC, QR codes, barcodes or even email their details. One added benefit of having this app in your phone is that if you are buying a new SIM card, you might be asked for an Aadhaar card, you can use this app to share your Aadhaar information with the service provider. HOW HELPFUL IS THE MAADHAAR APP TO THE COMMON MAN? The app does helps; let us have a look on the options it offers. * If a person has not locked his or her biometrics for Aadhaar, then the app will prompt to lock these. * Do note that once you lock your biometrics, you can’t use these to activate any new service. For ex., if you are establishing a bank account with Aadhaar Card verification, the biometrics will not work since you have locked them. However, you can always unlock these as by going in the settings menu. * Basically the app will let you share your e-KYC or QR code, which has all the data for verification. * You will have to tap on the menu on the top left corner, denoted

by three dots.

* There is an option to share e-KYC via Bluetooth, email, etc. * Here, the app password is needed to validate all of this data. STEP BY STEP PROCEDURE FOR SETTING UP YOUR PROFILE ON THE APP: * Once downloaded, open the app. * On the home screen you will be asked to create a password. You should enter a password of length minimum 8 and maximum 12 characters. The password should contain at least 1 number, 1 alphabet, 1 special character ( @,#,&,%,*,!,-,(,) ) and 1 alphabet in capital e.g.

Example@123

* As this is password is important, select a password which is unique and has some special characters in it. This password is required every time you perform any action on the app. * After you have created the password, fill in your Aadhaar card

data.

* Next, a verification code will be sent to your registered mobile number and your Aadhaar data will be synced with the App. KEY FEATURES OF THE MAADHAAR APP BY UIDAI: * It is a handy way to carry Aadhaar number with demographic details

anytime, anywhere.

* It secures biometric authentication by locking biometrics data. * Once resident enables Biometric Locking system their biometric remains locked till the Aadhaar Holder chose to either unlock it or disable the locking system. * A TOTP or a Time-based One-Time Password is generated which can be used instead of SMS based OTP. * An updated view of Aadhaar profile data after successful completion setup of the app. * You can share your QR code and password protected eKYC data to recover accurate demographic information from it instead of manual

entry.

POINTS TO REMEMBER WHEN DOWNLOADING MAADHAAR APP: * Prior downloading the mAadhaar app on your Android phone, make sure the mobile number/SIM is of the same number as the one linked to

your Aadhaar card.

* Registered Mobile Number is necessary to use mAadhaar app. In the case of not having a registered mobile number on Aadhaar details; visit the nearest Enrolment Centre/Mobile Update End Point. * This mobile number, which you had submitted at the time of registering your Aadhaar card, is the one on which you will get an OTP (One Time Password) for validating and setting up profiles on the

mAadhaar App.

* If that mobile number is not active, then verification won’t be

successful.

* Aadhaar profile can be downloaded only on mobile devices having registered mobile number. * Please do not navigate from application if it is waiting for SMS. mAadhaar will automatically read the OTP once it is received. * There is no provision to manually enter the OTP anywhere in mAadhaar. This is a security feature. * mAadhaar needs to connect and download data from UIDAI. So ensure that internet connectivity is available on your phone. * One Aadhaar profile can be active on only one device at a time. If you create profile on another device by inserting the SIM in another device, the previous profile would become inactive and would be deleted from older device whenever any operation is attempted from

that device.

SON MEETS HIS PARENTS AFTER 7 YEARS BECAUSE OF AADHAAR Posted on May 27, 2015

The incident took place in the city of Meerut where a missing son finally meets his family members after years because his aadhaar was received on the proper address. For a time span of seven years, Nathu Singh, who was locked in Meerut jail while attending a 10 year-sentence for assisting his friend who abandoned with a girl, had sent numerous letters to his town in Madhya Pradesh, but none of them were responded because the letters essentially never reached his family. Considering that he was missing, his blood relatives in the meantime had lost all optimism of ever seeing him again. Then, as Meerut jail authorities got instructions to get Aadhar cards made for all prisoners, he was enquired his home address for papers. And thus his Aadhar card reached his astonishment and delighted parents! His mother broke out both in tears and laughter and asked some of the younger relatives in the family to track her son using computer and some technology. Soon they got a clue on Nathu, who used to work as a farming labourer in a Meerut village when he was accused with assisting the elopement. Nathu, however, still refuses he had anything to do with the matter. The family finally had a sobbing reunion, and Nathu on time presented to his mother the Rs 4,000 he had got as a prisoner working in jail. It was because of the Aadhaar card with the help of which Nathu’s clue after being missing was found out. Jail supervisor SHM Rizvi said that nearly 8 to 9 months ago, they got instructions from the central government to assist the making of Aadhaar cards for all the inmates in the jail. They followed the instructions and they got Aadhar cards made for three thousand inmates and Nathu happened to be one of those three thousand. Appreciatively this time his Aadhaar reached his home — while his past letters were not received by his family. Thus Nathu was able to meet his family eventually. Nathu’s family members includes his father, his mother and 3 sisters. His family members are impending to meet him. Nathu, no wonder, is super excited to meet them, is over the moon after hearing

this news.

Nathu further mentioned while sobbing that Seven years is a long time but he is yet thankful to god that he eventually listened to his prayers and answered them. Though, still there are three years to go before he walks out as a free man he said. Nathu reached in Meerut in August 2007 and initiated working as a farm worker at Jesupur village. He says there he became friends with Raju Singh. Raju Singh was in love with a village girl. Later, he abandoned with this girl and Nathu was thought to be a partner in crime and was blamed to be responsible for this elope. So he was detained for being an assistant in this activity. Nathu’s parents lived in a rural community in Shahdol district of Madhya Pradesh also called MP. Nathu says that he was not able to even hire a lawyer for himself at that time. The girl’s family also appeared against him in the court and later he was sentenced to 10 years of detention for the crimes. According to Rizvi, Nathu’s activities in jail has been remarkably good, subsequent to which he has been given the role of a criminal supervisor, a post in which a criminal with a good conduct supports regular jail staff to sustain discipline and also acts as an

assistant.

Aadhaar serves as a unique ID proof for every citizen.It was always a topic of debate whether to make aadhaar card compulsory or to make them voluntary so as to facilitate the use of the government introduced schemes in favour of a common man. With Modi Sarkar in administration Aadhaar received thumbs up but it was decided to make the aadhaar card voluntary and not mandatory. UID scheme plays a major role and till date it has covered 67% of the total inhabitants of the country who have registered for Aadhaar card and submitted their biometric details. Standing into the shoes of UPA administration, the Centre on Friday told SUPREME COURT that it would carry on with Unique Identification (UID) or AADHAAR CARD scheme for its multiple welfares to community. Modi government made it certain that UID scheme is “voluntary” and not mandatory. The top court, which had controlled the authorities from making the Aadhaar card obligatory for ranging benefits to community in September 2013, had requested the Modi government to explain whether it would like to last with the scheme. “There is a dense case for extension of the UID scheme in opinion of the extensive use and the paybacks being provided to the Aadhaar enrollees,” the government said filing a joint affidavit counting finance ministry, Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) and other authorities in reaction to the court’s inquiry on a PIL which tested the cogency of the Aadhaar card scheme. “The enrolment to the UID scheme is done only on a voluntary basis and it is not obligatory upon any individual to register with UID scheme and thus part with their biometric info,” the government

added.

In September 2014, the Kashmir region saw tragic floods across many of its regions caused by heavy rainfall. But today as per the ET report Mr Nandan Nilekani appears to have resigned from his post. He said in an email reply to the ET that he is resigning as for now the government is in place to decide who is going to hold the position next. Despite the fact that his resignation was estimated over next few months, known that he has been entitled as the Congress candidate as of South Bangalore, it will arise as a wonder since his descendant as UIDAI chief has not been named perhaps not even acknowledged. Mr Nilekani had earlier announced that he would be resigning from the post when about 600 million Aadhaar cards will be issued. That quantity was touched on March 9th. As we know UIDAI has been Indian Government’s major and most determined project since they came in command 10 years ago.
