For me, writing is my full-time job, and so I pitch an idea for a book or a series to my publisher at Penguin Random House well in advance, sign a contract, get paid an advance and have strict deadlines to work to. In his slim-ish 201-page volume, O’Beirne gifts the reader with eighteen windows into other worlds, minds and dreams, set in the past, present and future, and painted on an Australian canvas.

------------------------- FUNDING NEWS: Writing NSW lost its ongoing state government funding at the end of 2020, as part of a decision to grant just 5% of long-term arts funding to literature. While we have now been granted operational funding for 2021, the battle to have our multi-year funding reinstated continues.
