The first herd of Asian elephants has arrived safely in their new forest habitat at White Oak Conservation. These 12 female elephants, ranging from 8 to 38 years old, will be joined by up to 20 more former circus elephants as soon as additional areas are completed. Through strategic partnerships and planning, our work to save endangered species includes reintroduction programs, education populations in human care and habitat preservation – all tools needed to prevent extinction of CONSERVATION CARETAKER Schedule: Monday through Friday (Must book 5 days in advance.) Length of Experience: 4 1/2 hours (8:00 am to 12:30 pm) Cost: $500 per person; $800 for two (2 people maximum) Includes: Basket lunch, White Oak t-shirt or hat, and a digital copy of all photos from the day as taken by staff. Restrictions: Due to the nature of work of a conservation caretaker there are certain physical requirements: NORTHERN HELMETED CURRASOW Northern helmeted curassows are a very striking bird in appearance; they have a distinctive large, fig-shaped, pale slate-blue casque on their head. Their feathers are primarily a sooty blue-black color with white tips on the tail feathers and a white abdomen. Males and females are very similar in appearance.
