CLICK TO LISTEN LIVE HAVERHILL HIGH GRADUATES 484 WITH PANDEMIC MEMORIES LOOMING LARGE OVERPUBLIC CEREMONY
BY WHAV STAFF | 56 MINS AGO Haverhill graduated 484 seniors Friday night in as large a public gathering as the city has allowed since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic last year. The stark change hit home as the Class of 2021 honored one of the school’s own, 19-year-old Logan Todd, who became Haverhill’s youngest victim of the disease when he died this past January. “A year ago, Logan was first in line in a wheel chair when I presented him with a graduation certificate of achievement,” recalled Mayor James J. Fiorentini. “Logan was a young man who, despite his disabilities, smiled very day and every day put a smile on the face of everyone who met him.” The mayor gave Todd’s brothers, Myles and Lucas Panneton, an honorary diploma for the young man. I-495 CONSTRUCTION UPDATE: STEEL DELIVERIES MEAN CLOSING LANES, RAMPS; NEW EXIT NUMBERS EMERGE Several steel beams appear near to completing a new crossing of the Merrimack River and the state plans lane and ramp closings this week to continue progress on the new Interstate 495 southbound bridge being constructed in Haverhill. Possibly confusing the state’s explanation of what’s closing is the ongoing renumbering of exits across the state to comply with federal mile marker requirements. There will be a single right lane closing on I-495 south, between new exit numbers 107 and 106, formerly exits 49 and 48 for River Street and Ward Hill, from Monday, June 7, through Friday, June 11, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., to complete concrete barriers to protect existing overpass piers.
