Density: Refers to how much an item weighs, and class can change depending on density; however, not all items have a density-based class. Generally, higher classes have a higher cost to ship. Freight class codes, or NMFC code, is catalogued in the National Motor Freight Classification. There are a total of 18 possible freight classes ranging from Class 50 (the least expensive) to Class 500 (the most expensive).
