PROGRAMS – TRANSITION US Transition Streets is a project that works on a neighborhood scale, bringing together clusters of households to go through a user-friendly handbook to help each participant reduce household energy, water, waste, and transportation miles, and save money in the process.. The inspiring work we are doing locally, nationally RESOURCING OUR MOVEMENT On October 27, Transitioners and collaborative partners from across the nation participated in a National Network Strategy conversation entitled “Resourcing Our Movement,” co-facilitated by Ranae Hanson, Transition ASAP (MN) and Galen Meyers, Transition US Collaborative Design Council. HOW TO RUN A SOLARIZE PROGRAM The cost basis for Solarize programs typically take a tiered approach, giving bigger discounts depending on the number of participants in an area. We secured one discount for under 15 participants, a bigger one for 15-29 participants, and the largest discount for 30 or moreparticipants.

In May of 2010, spearheaded by Rebecca Newburn, the Richmond Rivets Transition Initiative opened the Richmond Grows Seed Lending Library . CULTIVATING FOOD SECURITY WITH MINI-GARDENS Cultivating Food Security with Mini-Gardens. Cooperation Humboldt, a Transition Initiative in Humboldt County, California, is empowering their community to grow their own food through a free mini-garden installation project. They began the project by doing lawn conversions, planting gardens on the lawns of those who applied. In May of 2010, spearheaded by Rebecca Newburn, the Richmond Rivets Transition Initiative opened the Richmond Grows Seed Lending Library . CULTIVATING FOOD SECURITY WITH MINI-GARDENS Cultivating Food Security with Mini-Gardens. Cooperation Humboldt, a Transition Initiative in Humboldt County, California, is empowering their community to grow their own food through a free mini-garden installation project. They began the project by doing lawn conversions, planting gardens on the lawns of those who applied. THE ROSEWOOD PUBLIC ORCHARD In 2013, our group, Columbia Resilience, wanted to start a food project. Synchronicity kicked in with the availability of an actual orchard in need of rescue. Once we voted to transform the orchard into a community food forest, we couldn’t locate any department or official to give us definitive approval to take over the project. THE SOLARIZE GUIDEBOOK The first Solarize campaign began with local Portland residents who wanted to install solar power, but didn’t know where to start.
