Since the event was formed in 2014, the festival has offered workshops free of charge for under 25's giving young people in Dumfries & Galloway the opportunity to learn from some of the absolute very best in traditional music; and experiences that they would, otherwise, have to travel long distances for. Festival History. Newton Stewart & Minnigaff Traditional Music & Dance Festival was founded by Nathon Jones and his family in 2014. The idea took shape at one of the regular garden and music parties at their home in Minnigaff in 2013. We are in negotiation with the artists booked for this year and hope to secure them all for 2021, plus a few extra surprises, so we'll be SOLO PIPING COMPETITION 2022 Saturday 9th July 2022 / Doors 10:30am. After the success of the piping competition in 2019, we're back with another solo piping competition at this year's festival featuring the best in up-and-coming young piping talent from Dumfries & Galloway, andbeyond.
FAREWELL TO CREEBRIDGE HOUSE HOTEL It was with much confusion, and sadness, that we were informed earlier this month that our long term festival hosts, Creebridge House Hotel, have booked a wedding over the festival dates in 2020, ending what has been a fantastic relationship between the charity and the hotel over the past 6 years. - part of Newton Stewart & Minnigaff Traditional Music & Dance Festival TRAD MUSIC IN SOUTH WEST SCOTLAND Trad Music in South West Scotland. COUNCIL FUNDING TO ARRIVE TOO LATE With funding from D&G Council already guaranteed to be at least 43% down on the previous year, following removal of the Major Events Strategic Fund, it came as a huge blow to discover that any funding the event does receive this year, which isn't guaranteed, won't arrive in time for July's event.21 May 21

WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE FACILITIES Delighted to see the toilet facilities works under way at The Vault Arts Centre which will provide a wheelchair accessible cubicle and additional toilet facilities/capacity in both the ladies and gents toilets, with as little disruption as possible whilst we're currently closed to the public.5 Feb 21
