MOVIE TRAILER FOR SILVERADO (1985) STARRING SCOTT GLENN If you like westerns then you'll like 'Silverado' and if you don't like westerns well there is still a good chance that you will like 'Silverado'. You see 'Silverado' is very much in the form of a classic western full of action, gunfights, heroes, cliches and screams of 'yee-haa'. But it's a western which doesn't take itself seriously its fun with a range of characters and cast which deliver MOVIE TRAILER FOR SHENANDOAH (1965) STARRING JAMES STEWART Although technically a western, set during the final years of the American Civil War 'Shenandoah' is more of a movie with a message as it focuses on Charlie Anderson and his rather large family on their Virginian farm. Released in the mid 60s 'Shenandoah' poses questions about war and fighting for something you don't believe in, what perfect timing considering that America was becoming more MOVIE TRAILER FOR BRITANNIC (2000) STARRING EDWARD I doubt there are many who have never heard of the Titanic and I am sure thanks to James Cameron's watery epic 'Titanic' those who were unaware of the legendary ship became aware of it. But did you know the Titanic also has a sister ship called the HMHS Britannic which on the 21st November 1916 also sank? I doubt many do because you see when the Britannic sank only 30 people died when it hit a IN THE LINE OF DUTY: STREET WAR (1992) (AKA: URBAN Movie Review - In the Line of Duty: Street War (1992) (aka: Urban Crossfire) when a cop is killed and the detectives don't seem to be doing anything, his friend and fellow cop is prepared to take matters in to his own hands to get justice OUTBREAK (1995) STARRING DUSTIN HOFFMAN, RENE RUSSO Let me tell you what the problem is with 'Outbreak' it is 'Hollywood'. But before I get to that let me tell you what we have here, a potentially clever movie which covers a lot of areas. There is a disaster movie with the spread of the virus leading to potential deaths whilst this nicely leads into an element of fear factor as civilians panic at the rampant outbreak of this virus leading to MOVIE TRAILER FOR CHICAGO (2002) STARRING RENEE ZELLWEGER One of the songs in 'Chicago' has the lyrics 'Give 'em the old razzle dazzle. Razzle dazzle 'em' and right from the opening scenes that is what it does as it whips you up with a sexily dressed Catherine Zeta-Jones singing 'And All That Jazz' and takes you on a non stop ride of song and some dance leaving you feeling exhausted by the time the credits roll. To call it energetic would be a lie ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA (1984) STARRING ROBERT DE NIRO Watching 'Once Upon a Time in America' is a daunting task, partly because at 11 minutes shy of 4 hours it takes up a sizeable chunk of your day. But it is also daunting because in those 229 minutes there is so much detail that it is impossible to take it all in, little subtleties which you may miss again and again and then suddenly when you watch it again you pick up on them. DADDY (1987) STARRING DERMOT MULRONEY, PATRICIA ARQUETTE I have read a few opinions on 'Daddy' which is also known as 'High School and Pregnant' and in fairness to those opinions which appear to have come from teenagers who have been forced to watch this in more recent years I agree it does come across as corny. But of course it isn't meant to as 'TheLast
THE WINGS OF WAR (1969) STARRING PIERRE RICHARD, MASSIMO The Wings of War (1969) starring Pierre Richard, Massimo Righi, Umberto Raho, Katia Moguy, Gordon Mitchell, Tino Bianchi, Sarah Ross directed by Gaetano Quartararo WATCH GUNSMOKE RANCH (1937) ROBERT LIVINGSTON, RAY After a huge flood has left people homeless and living in a tented community land owner Phineas T. Flagg (Kenneth Harlan) offers them a chance to build a brand new town on part of his ranch with the promise that they won't have to pay him anything for the first twenty years. MOVIE TRAILER FOR JESSE STONE: NO REMORSE (2010) STARRING One of the things which makes the 'Jesse Stone' series of movies so good is that despite each one basically being a case of Jesse solving a couple of crimes it doesn't feel repetitive or wrong that a Chief of Police in a small town would have so much trouble to deal with. And that comes down to the brilliant writing which starts with the fact that each movie is the continuation of Jesse's own MOVIE TRAILER FOR THERE'S NO BUSINESS LIKE SHOW BUSINESS To be blunt I didn't enjoy 'There's No Business Like Show Business' or at least as not as much as I had hoped. And the simple reason is that it is a musical which is out of balance with far too many musical moments and so little story. It's a case of rather than the musical numbers embellishing the story it is the story which fills in the gaps between the musical numbers many of which feel BRAND OF THE DEVIL (1944) DAVE O'BRIEN, JAMES NEWILL, GUY A quick run down of things you can find in many an hour long western from the 1940s. There will be the old rancher dealing with local trouble; the old rancher usually has an attractive daughter, grand daughter or niece. Then we have the good guys who arrive under cover to try and get to the bottom of things, not only at one point will their cover be blown but they will probably break out in to JUDY MOODY AND THE NOT BUMMER SUMMER (2011) STARRING When I was at school if we ran riot on the last day of term, throwing paper all around a classroom as shown in 'Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer' summer would have been cancelled and we would have had to spend the summer doing punishment around the school. Now I may be getting grouchy with each passing year but whilst I can appreciate the chaos in the classroom scene at the start of 'Judy HOT TUB TIME MACHINE 2 (2015) ROB CORDDRY, CRAIG ROBINSON I wonder whether than they finished making the first 'Hot Tub Time Machine' they had a pile of gags left over and thought lets make another. The trouble is that it feels like the writers of 'Hot Tub Time Machine 2' basically sat down and wrote as many crude gags that they could, then they delved into the movie world to find some time travelling movie references they could throw in and then WATCH KANSAS CITY CONFIDENTIAL (1952) JOHN PAYNE, COLEEN D.O.A. (1950) So as already mentioned "D.O.A." starts with a man reporting his own murder, that man is Frank Bigelow (Edmond O'Brien - A Double Life) who via an extended flashback we discover is an accountant who had headed to San Francisco on va LAKE PLACID (1999) STARRING BILL PULLMAN, BRIDGET FONDA Whether the plan was originally to create a serious monster movie or not what 'Lake Placid' ends up is a firmly tongue in cheek B-movie, a monster movie of mirth. It is so tongue in cheek that it revels in bad characters, bad comedy, bad effects, a bad storyline and bad just about everything else but heck it's so entertaining. I could go on because there isn't an ounce of intelligence to 'LakeTHE MOVIE SCENE

CANYON PASSAGE (1946) STARRING DANA ANDREWS, BRIAN DONLEVY I think this is the first time I have watched a western and found it curious, but curious is exactly what 'Canyon Passage' is. I say it's curious because it has a meandering storyline which flows one way then the next switching emphasis from one dramatic moment to the next. And when you haven't got dramatic moments or shifts in emphasis you have cliche elements such as entire community getting THREE KINGS (1999) STARRING GEORGE CLOONEY, MARK WAHLBERG As war movies go 'Three Kings' is an experience I doubt you will forget because it is simply different. Shifting from tone we have dark humour, patriotism, gung ho soldiers, compassion, deep realisation and friendship as well as some of the most impressive visuals you will ever see. The action is limited and when it arrives it is brief, the dialogue goes from real to cliche as do the GLORY (1989) STARRING MATTHEW BRODERICK, DENZEL WASHINGTON 'Glory' is one impressive movie, it tells an important historical story about black men fighting in the American Civil War, it is well acted so much so that it isn't a movie about any of its stars and the whole thing draws you in as the story works it way to a pivotal battle in the history of America. As such I would say that 'Glory' is more than impressive it is in fact great but here is the MOVIES DIRECTED BY JOEL SCHUMACHER ON THE MOVIE SCENE Director page for movies directed by the name of Joel Schumacher featuring links to movie, film and dvd reviews on The Movie SceneTHE MOVIE SCENE

Hendricks who finds himself in a prototype spacecraft heading to the spaces tation where Russian terrorists have seized control and are trying to blackmail the United States THE LAST AIRBENDER (2010) NOAH RINGER, DEV PATEL, NICOLA I cannot remember the last time a movie did such a poor job of getting my attention, even some of the slowest indie movies I have suffered have done a better job of engaging with me than 'The Last Airbender' managed. And I even watched the movie twice just in case that first time when I watched 'The Last Airbender' I wasn't just in some sort of bad movie mood. The thing is that it seems lots FLUSHED AWAY (2006) VOICES HUGH JACKMAN, KATE WINSLET, IAN So Aardman gives us a CGI version of a clay-mation and it is both interesting and entertaining with that curved look of 'Wallace & Gromit' but dare I say even more detail and tone which wouldn't be financially feasible doing it the model way. In fact there is more than a shade of 'Wallace & Gromit' about 'Flushed Away' with gizmos and gadgets as well as character movement which grounds it as GLORY (1989) STARRING MATTHEW BRODERICK, DENZEL WASHINGTON 'Glory' is one impressive movie, it tells an important historical story about black men fighting in the American Civil War, it is well acted so much so that it isn't a movie about any of its stars and the whole thing draws you in as the story works it way to a pivotal battle in the history of America. As such I would say that 'Glory' is more than impressive it is in fact great but here is the ROGUE OF THE RANGE (1936) JOHNNY MACK BROWN, LOIS JANUARY I wonder whether back in the 1930s they had something like an index of story lines for westerns and then every time they had a new western star they would work their way through that index of storylines. As such whilst 'Rogue of the Range' is a Johnny Mack Brown western the storyline which sees him masquerade as a robber to join a gang of outlaws is devoid of all originality and has that AVPR: ALIENS VS PREDATOR I honestly thought that after 'AVP: Alien vs. Predator' that was it, there would be no more of these crossover movies but the studios obviously felt otherwise because 3 years later we got 'AVPR: Aliens vs Predator - Requiem'. And like with 'AVP' 'AVPR' is another disappointment in fact it is even more disappointing because in reality this movie isn't about Aliens or Predators. SHIVERS (1975) STARRING PAUL HAMPTON, JOE SILVER, LYNN One of the funniest things I have ever come across is someone who ranted at me saying that I couldn't be a proper movie lover if I wasn't a fan of David Cronenberg. This person was so belligerent that when I couldn't stop laughing it just made them angrier. In fairness I like some of Cronenberg's movies and one of those is 'Shivers' an early Cronenberg movie where he didn't have a big budgetTHE MOVIE SCENE

Secondly it is another movie which attempts to combine action with technology delivering a sense of MOVIE TRAILER FOR CROSSROADS (1986) STARRING RALPH MACCHIO For a movie which on paper looks like it has a rather strange fantasy storyline and of somewhat limited appeal, 'Crossroads' starring Ralph Macchio and Joe Seneca is a remarkably enjoyable movie with a much greater appeal than initially presumed. The simple reason for this is that it combines two of Hollywood's favourite storylines with great effectiveness but puts them in a situation which is MOVIE TRAILER FOR PHILADELPHIA (1993) STARRING TOM HANKS Has there ever been another film in the history of movie making to have challenged so many people to confront their own prejudices and ignorance. Think 'Total Recall' and you will know pretty much what to expect. But even on its cinema release it all actually felt a little dated, with Schwarzenegger feeling like a relic from MOVIE TRAILER FOR ROBIN AND THE 7 HOODS (1964) STARRING 'Robin and the 7 Hoods' is a movie for fans of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr ripping it up doing what they do best will provide plenty of fun and song & dance. MOVIE TRAILER FOR THE TAKING OF PELHAM 1 2 3 (2009 'The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3' is a solid modern action thriller, a typical Tony Scott movie which features plenty of style whilst also featuring two powerful characters played by Denzel Washington and John Travolta. The trouble is that it isn't a modern movie, it's a remake of the 1974 movie 'The Taking of Pelham One Two Three' and if you have watched the 1974 version the remake will disappoint. MOVIE TRAILER FOR IN THE LINE OF FIRE (1993) STARRING Movie Review 'In the Line of Fire' Clint Eastwood embraces his age as he stars as veteran Secret Service Agent Frank Horrigan who finds himself back in the action as a psychotic Mitch Leary (John Malkovich) toys with him whilst preparing to assassinate the President. MOVIE TRAILER FOR THE WRONG ARM OF THE LAW (1963) STARRING 'The Wrong Arm of the Law' is a movie for those who love or are just discovering the British crime caper of the 50s and 60s. Here we have an amusing premise of criminals being upset because they are being robbed by other criminals and we get plenty of comedy be it through a few accidents or some wonderful characters. It is the sort of dry humour which filled British comedy during the 60s and WATCH KANSAS CITY CONFIDENTIAL (1952) JOHN PAYNE, COLEEN D.O.A. MOVIES STARRING WILLIAM MACDONALD ON THE MOVIE SCENE "White Noise 2: The Light" is a sequel but only in the loosest sense in the same way that "Tokyo Drift" was a sequel to "The Fast and theFurious".
THE KID (2000) STARRING BRUCE WILLIS, SPENCER BRESLIN Movie Review 'The Kid' When cynical workaholic Russ Duritz (Bruce Willis) returns home to find a young boy (Spencer Breslin) in his home, he is even more shocked when he realises it is him when he was 8 and for some reason the 8 year old Russ is paying him a visit. OUTBREAK (1995) STARRING DUSTIN HOFFMAN, RENE RUSSO Let me tell you what the problem is with 'Outbreak' it is 'Hollywood'. But before I get to that let me tell you what we have here, a potentially clever movie which covers a lot of areas. There is a disaster movie with the spread of the virus leading to potential deaths whilst this nicely leads into an element of fear factor as civilians panic at the rampant outbreak of this virus leading to BREAKIN' (1984) (AKA: BREAKDANCE: THE MOVIE) LUCINDA I remember when 'Breakin'' came out, although back then I knew it as 'Breakdance: The Movie', and it was one of the movies I was desperate to see as like many back in the 80s I was into break dancing. Okay I liked break dancing but the closest I got to it was doing a poor robot and could only look on in admiration at those who could lock, pop and windmill. The daft thing is that whilst it is HITMAN (2007) STARRING TIMOTHY OLYPHANT, DOUGRAY SCOTT It has been a long time since I really played video games and as such have never played the game on which 'Hitman' is based. But to be honest you don't need to have played the game because 'Hitman' is a simple formula driven movie as we have an expert killer betrayed by the agency which he works for not sure who he can trust and saddled with a woman he doesn't know how to interact with because FLUSHED AWAY (2006) VOICES HUGH JACKMAN, KATE WINSLET, IAN So Aardman gives us a CGI version of a clay-mation and it is both interesting and entertaining with that curved look of 'Wallace & Gromit' but dare I say even more detail and tone which wouldn't be financially feasible doing it the model way. In fact there is more than a shade of 'Wallace & Gromit' about 'Flushed Away' with gizmos and gadgets as well as character movement which grounds it as DADDY (1987) STARRING DERMOT MULRONEY, PATRICIA ARQUETTE I have read a few opinions on 'Daddy' which is also known as 'High School and Pregnant' and in fairness to those opinions which appear to have come from teenagers who have been forced to watch this in more recent years I agree it does come across as corny. These sorts of movies which deal with the subject of teenage pregnancy have moved on leaps and bounds since this was made back in the late D.A.R.Y.L. (1985) STARRING BARRET OLIVER, MARY BETH HURT 'D.A.R.Y.L.' is one of those 80s movies which has actually improved with age, not in that it has bucked the trend and not dated because in look it is seriously dated, but because the intelligence and humour of the story is easier to appreciate now. And I suppose that sort of hints at how I felt about 'D.A.R.Y.L.' when I watched it as a teen at the end of the 80s as whilst I remember beingTHE MOVIE SCENE

It is so tongue in cheek that it revels in bad characters, bad comedy, bad effects, a bad storyline and bad just about everything else but heck it's so entertaining. I could go on because there isn't an ounce of intelligence to 'Lake MOVIES STARRING RUTH GORDON ON THE MOVIE SCENE There was a war going on and I am not just talking about the story depicted in 1940s war movie "Edge of Darkness".
