There are many interesting things in the prototypes of the Genesis Sonic the Hedgehog 2, most of which were sadly removed as development progressed. Most of these are very late in development as a result of being part of Sega's Quality Assurance BBS archives. SONIC THE HEDGEHOG (GENESIS) This version of Sonic 1 was released on the Nintendo 3DS in 2013, as part of the 3D Classics line of rereleases. It runs on the "Giga Drive", a special Genesis emulator that allows games to take advantage of the 3DS hardware. Changes include: Stereoscopic 3D graphics that take advantage of the 3DS's hardware. PROTO:SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2 (GENESIS)/SIMON WAI PROTOTYPE The Simon Wai prototype of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is definitely further along than the Nick Arcade build, but there are still quite a few unfinished elements such as level layouts and things that have not been fully implemented. There are also many, many unused graphics that can be found via hacking. In addition, there are a few levels not seen in the final, but most of them contain nothing. _SUPER MARIO WORLD _Developer: NINTENDO
Publisher: NINTENDO
Released: 1990, SNES _Super Mario World _ was Nintendo's first title for the SNES , and it was rushed to release for this reason, leaving a lot of unfinished content. It contains a wealth of unused levels, some of which are from extremely early in development. There's also a lot of unused objects, from a classic Piranha Plant to a ceiling full of Swoopers – all the way to an unused screen-sized _cage_! All this, combined with a lot of interesting early graphics from the SNES Test Program , the SNES Burn-In Test Cart , and magazine preview screenshots, reveals that _Super Mario World_ was originally intended to be a very different game: _Super Mario Bros. 4_.Read more...
