The traditional acoustic tiple is a small instrument in the guitar family, similar to a ukulele or a taropatch. It has its earliest roots in 16th century Colombia where instrument makers adapted the design of a Spanish vihuela. Since then, numerous variations sprang up in Puerto Rico, Spain, Venezuela, and eventually in the United States during the 1920s when Martin and Regal introduced their JACOBITE #127 IN-STOCK The prototype Jacobite fretboard shows a landscape of the rustic wilderness along Alaska's Denali Highway engraved in mother-of-pearl, an image inspired by my 2011 cycling adventure. The ebony headstock veneer is flanked by Alaskan cedar burl. Made from Linden wood, it interfaces with the acoustic box structure without damping tone unnecessarily. The resulting instrument is a guitar that not only has good acoustic volume, but also an amazing electric output. Sealing the chamber completely produced an acoustic suspension that focuses vibration on the transducer. WILDEBEEST GUITAR #801 The Wildebeest is an outgrowth of the Luddite in that it is the exact silhouette with two bites taken out for access to the neck extension. There is a thickening of the neck at the twelfth fret just where a heel would be placed on a Luddite. It has its earliest roots in 16th century Colombia where instrument makers adapted the design of a Spanish vihuela.
