I have been leaning toward Supercollider and recently found Sonic Pi. I’m curious to know what advantages the Sonic Pi environment offers over working directly in Supercollider. Thanks so much for your input. STRANGER THINGS THEME SONG! Hi all! Just started playing around with Sonic Pi and inspired by the amazing music of Stranger Things, I decided to tackle the theme song. Right now, it’s pretty rough. Having issues with the arpeggio matching up with the “heartbeat” and would appreciate some guidance on how to effectively play the changing alto line/very rhythmic bass towards the end of the track. Of course, went SONIC PI IN A WEB BROWSER samaaron October 12, 2018, 7:43am #5. As far as I understand, they both use Web Audio for their sound production and therefore generate their sound in the browser. As for features, there’s likely to be things they can do that Sonic Pi can’t and visa versa. It all really depends on your musical goals. SONIC PI V3.3.1 IS RELEASED This is compatibility release addressing two issues with macOS Big Sur: Correct language translations now used based on user’s current locale The language server is no longer killed by macOS Gatekeeper when a sample’s onset times are queried. This release also includes minor translation updates. MIDI KEYBOARD WITH SONIC PI NO AUDIO Hi, I have my midi keyboard (keystation 88) connected to my computer. I would like to use it with Sonic Pi, but I cannot hear anything when I play the keyboard. I have followed the instructions for MIDI In provided by Sam Aaron in the Sonic Pi app, and everything seems to be connected correctly. I’ve provided a screenshot of what I see on my screen. Also, I know it is not an issue with my FADING LIVE_LOOP IN /OUT? These rings are different in that when you tick to the end, they don’t wrap around but stay at the last value. You can reverse the ring to fade out. live_loop :fade_in do synth :beep, note: (chord :c3, :min).tick, amp: (line 0,1,steps: 32, inclusive: true).ramp.look sleep 0.25 end. You can reset ticks using tick_reset or tick_reset_all, butI
CONTROL THE STOP OF A LIVE_LOOP WITH A CONDITION Hi everybody, I’m working on a apckey 25 project and try to start or stop a live_loop if a toggle is on. So i try with this piece of code to try to understand what i’m doing 🙂 live_loop :metronome do sleep 1 end live_loop :foo do sync :metronome stop if get sample :bass_dnb_f # sleep 1 end live_loop :toggle_inspector do sync :metronome tick :boo if look(:boo)==3 set :toggleOn EXPORT TO WAV WITH COMMAND LINE Hello! is there a way to “play” a .rb file with a command line tool and have it directly stored in a wav file? I mean, without having to hear it and press a key at some point. STOPPING A LIVE_LOOP OR A THREAD VIA OSC COMMAND Here is a demo program that starts and stops the loop using osc messages. In this case the messages are sent from this instance of Sonic Pi, but they could be sent from an external source, eg another computger running Sonic Pi on the same network.* Intro
