Our History. . Powers Winery, was founded by Bill Powers. Bill was drawn from his boyhood in Oklahoma to the region’s spectacular farm country in the 1950’s, and after years of farming multiple crops, he planted our estate, Badger Mountain Vineyard, in 1982. Champoux vineyard resides within the Horse Heaven Hills, AVA established in 2005. Planted in 1972 by the Mercer Family. Powers has been part owners of this famed vineyard site since 1996 along with Paul Champoux and others. 195 total acres planted with predominantlyred varietals.
THE TERROIR
The Terroir of the Pacific Northwest. Terroir encompasses a distinct combination of climate, soil, topography. Our region has a unique history of how the terroir was developed. The lava flows, floods, winds and soils. The region is rich with volcanic history and almost the entire Columbia valley is covered in a Basalt foundation. SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES We believe in using both tradition and technology to produce compelling wines with a sustainable approach. As a continuation of our commitment to reduce our carbon foot-print, we have adopted and developed greener energy alternatives wherever possible. in supplying power to the winery. Bio-diesel is made on-site for use in farmequipment.

The entire appellation lies on a broad, south-facing slope with a constant, gentle grade of less than 8%. This, along with the proximity to the Columbia River, helps minimize the risk of frost, which can affect other areas of the state. Coyote Vineyard was planted in 1990 with 200 acres under vine with 25 acres under contract to the PowersFamily.

SHERIDAN Vineyard. The Yakima Valley AVA was established in 1983. Planted in 1997 by Scott Greer with an elevation of 1,120 to 1,230 feet. A total of 80 acres with 35 planted with Cabernet Sauvignon. Our History. . Powers Winery, was founded by Bill Powers. Bill was drawn from his boyhood in Oklahoma to the region’s spectacular farm country in the 1950’s, and after years of farming multiple crops, he planted our estate, Badger Mountain Vineyard, in 1982. Champoux vineyard resides within the Horse Heaven Hills, AVA established in 2005. Planted in 1972 by the Mercer Family. Powers has been part owners of this famed vineyard site since 1996 along with Paul Champoux and others. 195 total acres planted with predominantlyred varietals.

The Terroir of the Pacific Northwest. Terroir encompasses a distinct combination of climate, soil, topography. Our region has a unique history of how the terroir was developed. The entire appellation lies on a broad, south-facing slope with a constant, gentle grade of less than 8%. This, along with the proximity to the Columbia River, helps minimize the risk of frost, which can affect other areas of the state. Coyote Vineyard was planted in 1990 with 200 acres under vine with 25 acres under contract to the PowersFamily.

SHERIDAN Vineyard. The Yakima Valley AVA was established in 1983. Planted in 1997 by Scott Greer with an elevation of 1,120 to 1,230 feet. A total of 80 acres with 35 planted with Cabernet Sauvignon. The soil is very shallow silt and loam with a basalt base. The fruit is displayed with balanced acidity, bright cherry/red fruit hi-tonesfollowed
