Pruning citrus can often have folks bamboozled, as they’re often either full of fruit or blossoms. Simon Marshall, landscape designer, permie and pruner to the stars gives us the basics on how, when and why you might think about pruning citrus trees.. There are several reasons why you may want to prune a citrus tree: BREEDING YOUR OWN BACKYARD CHICKENS Practise on non-fertile eggs first. Buy a small, bright LED torch. Wait until evening, and carefully remove the eggs from the incubator or nest. Then, in the dark, shine the light through the rounded end of the egg: it will look clear, with the shape of the yolk showing. If the shell is dark it will be more difficult to see. HOW TO GROW FEIJOA (PINEAPPLE GUAVA) As a frost- tolerant evergreen, the feijoa can use winter rainfall for growth. It is tolerant of drought and poor soil, but will grow faster and produce more fruit with additional water and soil improvement. It can be grown in full sun or partial shade. Feijoa is rarely bothered by pests, although fruit fly can be a problem in some areas. WHEN TO PRUNE FRUIT TREES Winter is a great time to prune your fruit trees. Follow our guide for when and how to prune different fruit trees. There are as many ways to prune fruit trees as there are to skin a cat, so it’s no wonder novice pruners feel a little intimidated at the prospect of hacking away at their beloved deciduous fruit trees with a pair of secateurs. 5 WAYS WITH CITRUS: RECIPES The juice of 10 limes (500ml of juice) 500ml water. 40 large mint leaves, ripped.
