THE FOOT AND RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is the commonest type of inflammatory arthritis. Up to 90% of people with this condition will report associated foot problems. For some people, the foot is the first area of the body to present with signs and symptoms of RA. For others, it may be months, years or they may never experience any foot problems atall.
MONITORING RA
Monitoring RA. RA is a complex condition to diagnose, treat and manage and requires a continual level of ongoing monitoring. Imaging techniques, such as x-ray or ultrasound, can give insight into how active RA is, as well as checking for any signs of damage caused by the RA and other complications. STEROIDS USED IN RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS (RA) Steroids. Steroids are used sparingly for conditions such as RA, because of the side effects, in the smallest possible dose for the shortest time. They can be given as tablets or injected or by infusion (a ‘drip’). Steroids are also known as corticosteroids or glucocorticoids. They are used to help control many forms ofarthritis.

Apni Jung (translates to “Our Fight” in Hindi) is an initiative that aims to engage with RA patients within the UK South Asian community – encouraging them not just to seek medical help for their condition but also to gain an understanding about RA and the benefits of continuing to take prescribed medication to improveoutcomes.
