MEDIUM FORMAT ANYONE? I’ve had some requests to update my blog due to my last blog post being a bit sad and difficult for some people to look at. Since I’m on the road working in Iceland I don’t have a great deal of time to really come up with anything amazing. But I did find this interesting piece on the medium format Hasselblad cameras which I’ve been toying with the idea of testing for quite some time. LUMIX DIARIES PHOTOGRAPHS NIGHT SKIES WITH MFT CAMERAS But come to find out, even the full-frame guys and gals stack their night skies. Starry Landscape Stacker opens up an entirely new world to MFT shooters. For Windows users, I’ve heard good things about Deep Sky Stacker. Below is what I came up with of the Milky Way. This is a combination of 21 frames shot at 3200 ISO and stacked together to HOW TO MAKE A CHAPBOOK Position the paper on the paper cutter to match the page height, 9 inches in our case. Place the paper cutter stop in place and then trim the paper to the correct height. Fold – Fold each page along the score that you previously made. Binding – To bind the A NUMBERING SYSTEM TO KEEP TRACK OF YOUR DIGITAL Most digital cameras will create an ongoing, running number that increases by one for each file captured. Typically the highest number most cameras create is 10,000. Once the camera reaches 10,000 frames it resets itself and begins another series of 10,000 frames. If you have two cameras each one is creating it’s own 1-10,000 photo file LUMIX AUTO FOCUS WORKAROUND Below is a short video on how I get around it. The above video describes it best but here’s a short description of the problem. You focus on a subject with any lens, the AF sensor is on Single AF and it’s completely covering the subject. You push the shutter button or Back Button AF to focus, but focus does not happen. TWO GREAT TRAVEL LENSES LEICA 12-60MM & OLYMPUS 12-100MM The first one is the new Leica 12-60mm F/2.8-F/4, and the second is the Olympus 12-100mm F/4. For those new to Micro Four Thirds cameras–all lenses are multiplied by two. So the two lenses mentioned above are actually 24-120mm F/2.8-F/4 and 24-200mm F/4 respectively. Thankfully, I finally received the new Olympus, and this last week I spent time at Bosque del Apache NWR shooting the combination. TWO GREAT TRAVEL LENSES LEICA 12-60MM & OLYMPUS 12-100MM The first one is the new Leica 12-60mm F/2.8-F/4, and the second is the Olympus 12-100mm F/4. For those new to Micro Four Thirds cameras–all lenses are multiplied by two. So the two lenses mentioned above are actually 24-120mm F/2.8-F/4 and 24-200mm F/4 respectively. Both offer an extremely handy range, with the Olympus having a bit more zoom LUMIX AUTO FOCUS WORKAROUND Below is a short video on how I get around it. The above video describes it best but here’s a short description of the problem. You focus on a subject with any lens, the AF sensor is on Single AF and it’s completely covering the subject. LUMIX AUTO FOCUS WORKAROUND Below is a short video on how I get around it. The above video describes it best but here’s a short description of the problem. PHOTO TIPS FROM THE FIELD: BIRDS IN FLIGHT In other words, if you have a 400mm lens you want at least 1/400th of a second to stop any kind of motion. But for fast-moving birds, that’s not enough. For birds in flight, you want at least double the focal length of the lens you’re shooting. So 400mm would require at least one 1/1600th of a second. Even faster is better. TWO GREAT TRAVEL LENSES LEICA 12-60MM & OLYMPUS 12-100MM Two great travel lenses Leica 12-60mm and Olympus 12-100mm to foil carry-on police. As traveling photographers, we’ve all been there. “There” is the point in the line where the gate agent looks you straight in the eye and asks you to place your carry-on in the make-believe overhead bin that determines its size. I’ve been shooting Lumix GH5 since it was released nearly five months ago.
