Wading Pools. On July 4, 2020, there are 18 wading pools opening across Minneapolis with hours from noon-6:30 pm. Two additional pools , as noted, will open soon. Pool area capacity will be reduced to allow for social distancing and restrooms will be open from noon-6:30 pm. View Open Locations. WATER WORKS AT MILL RUINS PARK People have gathered at Owámniiyomni (St. Anthony Falls) for thousands of years. It was a prime place for encampments by the Dakhóta, Ho-Chunk, and Ojibwe due to the proximity to a place of spiritual power, traditional routes, and locations for harvesting foods such as maple sugar and cranberries.

Service Area : South. Commissioner District : 5. The Hiawatha Golf Club is located next to Lake Hiawatha in south Minneapolis. Hiawatha is an 18-hole regulation golf course, Par 73. It is a long course, generally flat with mature trees and small greens. Two fairways and four tees border Lake Hiawatha. ELOISE BUTLER WILDFLOWER GARDEN AND BIRD SANCTUARY Historical Timeline. August 3, 1851: Eloise Butler is born on a farm near Appleton, Maine. Growing up roaming the woods, meadows and bogs, she pursues a career as a botany teacher. 1874: Eloise moves to Minneapolis and teaches school for 36 years, taking her students “botanizing” in the JIM LUPIENT WATER PARK No tobacco allowed in Jim Lupient Water Park. Appropriate swimwear helps keep the water clean and is important to the health and water safety of all users. Group Use Permit: Apply for a permit to make a group reservation and an option to reserve a covered shelter for $25, seating up to 15 people. THEODORE WIRTH GOLF CLUB The Fireplace Room in the Wirth Chalet has a rustic feel with vaulted ceilings and a large wood-burning fireplace. For available dates, rental rates and more information email our Event Consultant or call at 612-230-6427. Theodore Wirth Golf Club spent the past few years redeveloping its historical grounds. LAKE HARRIET PARK

With another $15,000 loaned to the park board by an association of Minneapolis retailers, the park board built a new pavilion, also designed by Harry Jones, in 1904. The new pavilion extended out over the water and its roof provided an open-air concert venue. Lake Harriet was known as much more than a boating and concert lake,

MORRIS PARK

Morris Park was the subject of political wrangling in 1979. The park board added an expansion of the Morris Park shelter, at a cost of $467,000, to its 1980 bond program request. The mayor vetoed the expenditure, but the park board voted unanimously to override the veto. Despite the assertion of its independence from the mayor, the

PHELPS FIELD PARK

Phelps was a park commissioner from 1905 until he died in 1923, which made him the longest serving park commissioner in history at the time, surpassing William Folwell by several months. Established in 1883, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) oversees a renowned urban park system spanning 6,809 acres of parkland and water.
