It is not always necessary to request copies of the records we hold as our Patient Experiences team are usually able to help, for example in clarifying what happened following a 999 call, explaining the care provided, confirming whether an ambulance was sent etc. We would ask you to discuss your needs with our Patient Experiences team before making an ADVANCED PARAMEDIC PRACTITIONERS Our Advanced Paramedic Practitioners in Critical Care (APP-CC) treat the most seriously ill and injured patients â including patients in cardiac arrest and with serious traumatic injuries. They also attend complex maternity calls, or challenging cases where enhanced decision making is required. They have additional post-graduate education and EMERGENCY AMBULANCE CREW Included will be a four-week driving course to the standard of the FutureQualsâ Ambulance Driving qualification and will incorporate: The system of vehicle control. Cornering. Overtaking. Skid avoidance. Speed and safety. Motorway safety. Also included is the Ambulance Emergency Response Driving (AERD) or âBlue Light Drivingâ. NEW APPRENTICESHIP SCHEME HELPS MAKE BECOMING A PARAMEDIC The new apprenticeship programme runs alongside the already successful Associate Ambulance Practitioner apprenticeship, which is open to external applicants and is a route to becoming an EAC without any prior medical qualifications. PARAMEDIC SCIENCE DEGREES Full-time degrees. University of Hertfordshire BSc (Hons) This degree runs over three academic years. EMERGENCY RESPONDERS Emergency Responders operate in charity-funded blue light vehicles and work under London Ambulance Service management and policies. We currently have nearly 150 volunteers in our Emergency Responder team. In 2020 they did 2,422 shifts which amounted to 28,868 volunteer hours and attended nearly 9,000 emergency calls.ARREST TRIAL

CARDIAC ARREST SURVIVOR THANKS TEAM LAS âHUMBLE HEROES A 54-year-old man whose heart stopped beating for 21 minutes has thanked the London Ambulance Service staff who helped save his life. A 54-year-old man whose heart stopped beating for 21 minutes has thanked the London Ambulance Service staff who helped save his life. Nicolas De Santis, a tech entrepreneur, was working at home in his study when he started to feel slight discomfort in his chest which he brushed off as an infection or bad cold. Fortunately for Nicolas his daughter, Alaia, 22, was also at home that day in December 2019, and had gone to check on him before they went out to dinner, when he collapsed in front of her. She immediately dialled 999 and followed the advice from London Ambulance Service call handler, Elliott, who began to talk Alaia through cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).3 Jun 2021
