Gary Morgan. STATESBORO, Ga. — Retired 1st Sgt. Gary Mitchell Morgan, 70, of Statesboro, Ga., died April 21, 2021, in Grovetown, Ga. He was born Aug. 28, 1950, in Dyess to Elsa “Junior” and Betty Holmes Morgan. He attended school at Marked Tree and was a proud member of the class of ’68. JONESBORO — The police probe into a robbery that ended in a fatal crash has been closed with no arrests or charges filed. The Jonesboro Police Department concluded that Lakita Davis, 35, and Tacorrion Golden, 20, both of Memphis, were involved in the Oct. 3 robbery of Dollar General, 5431 Southwest MAN CHARGED WITH CHILD PORNOGRAPHY A Jonesboro man was released from jail on a $50,000 bond after he was accused of distributing child porn, according to previous Sun reporting. Kurt Smith, 47, was arrested when a woman claimed he texted a photo of a preteen girl exposing her genitalia. Smith is barred from being around any children under the age of 18.
