The map is displayed on an enlarged scale: This is the fortress of Momochi Tanbanomikami, who is said to be one of the three great ninja, and nearby is Seiunzenji, which is the place of his grave. FUJIWARA NO CHIKATA KUTSU The map is displayed on an enlarged scale: This is the castle of Fujiwara no Chikata, who appears in the Taiheiki, or Records of Great Peace. In the Heian Period, noble family Fujiwara no Chikata started war with the imperial court, used the yonki (four devils: gold devil, wind devil, water devil, stealth devil) to distress the imperial

FUKUCHI CASTLE

The map is displayed on an enlarged scale: Fukuchishi, a noble descendant of Taira Kiyomori, defected to Oda Nobunaga in the Second Tensei Iga War in Tensei’s 9th year (1581), and thereby became

powerful.

CHIGACHI FORTRESS RUINS The map is displayed on an enlarged scale: This is the clan fortress of one of the three great ninja, Hattori Hanzo, and there are commemorative markers at the birthplaces of Hattori Hanzo and Todo

Uneme.

SHINOBI-CHO

The map is displayed on an enlarged scale: Igamono, the magistrate who served under the Todo clan, was in charge of being the bodyguard for Todo during the “sankin kotai” period.

TAKESHIMASHI CASTLE

The map is displayed on an enlarged scale: This typical noble manor has mounds constructed around the main living house. In the Tensei Iga War, Takeshima Yozaemon concentrated in Hijiyama, and the house is said to have burned to the ground.

MARUYAMA CASTLE

The map is displayed on an enlarged scale: In the start of the Tensei Iga War, Ise ruler Kitabatake Nobukatsu was restoring Fukuchi Castle in preparation to attack Iga, and just before it was to be completed, the people of Iga attacked it and defeated Kitabatake,

OTOGITOGE PASS

The map is displayed on an enlarged scale: Near 600 meters above sea level, this pass connects Nishiyama of Iga City and Tarao of Koka City. It appears in the opening scene of the movie “Fukuro no Shiro”, and is one pass that Tokugawa Ieyasu passed over as he hurriedly crossed Iga to return to Okazaki, helped along by the people of Iga and Koka, during the Honnoji War.

SHOKAKUJI TEMPLE

Shokakuji Temple. This map was created by a user. Learn how to create your own. A Jodoshu (Pure Land) temple, this is the family gravesite of Fujibayashi Nagatonomikami, who is said to be one of the three great ninja. The approximately 20 grave markers were moved in the Taisho Period (early 20th century) from the Fujibayashi manor ruins. KURODA HOUSE AND AKUTO The map is displayed on an enlarged scale: The Kuroda House was a large manor operated by Todaiji Temple from the Heian to Muromachi Periods.
