For the past two years, we have been working with UNDP Nepal to identify PDGLs in these three basins using high-resolution satelliteimagery.

We received 20 seedlings of different fibers plant species such as Umbrella species (Cypreus alternifolius) and two varieties of papyrus species (Gulguliya and Gund) from Nepal Knotcraft Centre recently on October 20, 2020. HIGH VALUE MEDICINAL PLANTS (TAXUS WALLICHIANA-HIMALAYAN Taxus wallichiana (Himalayan yew), is a species of #yew, native to the Himalaya and parts of Southeast Asia. You can find this evergreen species growing between 900 m – 3700 m above sea level. This has major impacts, affecting the health of people and ecosystems, the climate, cryosphere, monsoon patterns, and agriculture. The Regional Atmosphere Programme works to enable RMCs to use science-based knowledge on air quality UNDERSTANDING THE CHAMOLI FLOOD: CAUSE, PROCESS, IMPACTS The climate of the area is characterised by warm-wet summers (June-September) and cold-wet winters (December-February). The difference between average monthly maximum and minimum temperature is about 20 o C, which is higher in the winter season compared to summer (Fig. 2). SERVIR-HKH | ICIMOD
Training and capacity building are integral parts of the SERVIR-HKH initiative. The initiative organizes trainings in the development and use of science applications for partner institutions and end users to maximize the benefit of Earth observation information and geospatial technology in the region. PROCEEDINGS OF THE TRAINING ON REGIONAL CLIMATE CHANGE Regional climate projections can inform detailed impact and adaptation assessments and planning, especially in vulnerable regions like South Asia. ICIMOD, the Met Office, the World Climate Research Programme, and the Coordinated Regional Climate Downscaling Experiment (CORDEX) office organized a six-day training event on regional climate change projections over two weeks in October 2020.* __
