Everyone who can should learn how to grow garlic. Growing garlic is fairly easy as it is a hardy survivor that can withstand much abuse. Growing great garlic is more difficult and time-consuming because it requires paying close attention to every plant and promptly providing the water it needs to grow and keeping the weeds down in its area. GARLIC 101 - GOURMET GARLIC GARDENS There's nothing like a long, warm soak in a bathtub of garlic water to help a person feel relaxed and at peace with the world and gain an enhanced sense of well-being - it just makes one feel good. No health claims here. EditCarousel - Gourmet Garlic SAMPLERS - GOURMET GARLIC GARDENS Not everyone wants to buy a minimum of a pound of every kind of garlic they want to try so most growers have some special sampler assortments that contain two bulbs each of several kinds of garlic. GERMINADOR - GOURMET GARLIC GARDENS Germinador is a wonderful Creole garlic from the South of France. Germinador is nicely flavorful but has little or no pungency and so makes a delightful garlic for raw eating for those who love flavor but don't like hotness. Germinador is very impressively the longest storing of all the Creoles and Creoles are longer storing garlics thanmost.

Turbans have 30 to 100 small rice-size bulbils in their bulbilcapsule.
CURING AND STORING THE GARLIC This makes for a garlic that is good for immediate use only. We think garlic stores best long term when it is stored at between 55F and 65F and between 40% and 60% humidity. If the humidity stays below 40% for a couple of weeks or more, garlic has a tendency to dry out faster than it otherwise would. If humidity goes higher than 60% for anyROSE DE LAUTREC
Rose de Lautrec is a beautiful Creole that is almost as long storing as its fellow French Creole, Germinador but has a much more robust flavor. Rose de Lautrec has a very unique flavor, I don't think I've ever tasted one quite like it. It has a modest amount of pungency, perhaps 3 or 4 on a scale of 10, so it is a warm garlic but not a hotone.
PURPLE RUSSIAN
Russian Purple are excellent for raw eating or in pesto as they have a clear, crisp texture and a mellow taste that reminds of shallots with a faint hint of horseradish and leaves you with a mildly warm aftertaste that is smooth and not bitter. Russian Purple's bulb wrappers are sleek and parchment-like and the outer ones are very, very white.
