It seeks to answer questions related to aspects of flood resilience, flood risk management and catastrophe intervention. It looks at what went well, as well as opportunities for improvement, and results in a set of recommendations DISASTER RESILIENCE FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT This 2-pager highlights an alternative way of organising the post-2015 framework for disaster risk reduction, along sector-based lines, and reiterates three strategies for pursuing effective disaster resilience for sustainable development. PREPARE FOR EMERGENCIES NOW: INFORMATION TO GET READY This framework is designed to launch a process of learning about citizen preparedness in case of emergency. WHY ARE WOMEN MORE VULNERABLE TO FLOODING IN INDIA In India, floods are the most frequently occurring natural hazard, accounting for 47% of all natural disasters and claiming 1,700 lives per year on average. Although studies have shown women to be more vulnerable to natural disasters, so far there is little information on whether or how floods disproportionately impact women in India.. A new study attempts to address this lack of data.
