Even if kittens are asleep they need to be awakened and fed to stay on schedule. Hypocalcemia, also known as “milk fever,” is rare in cats, and is caused by lack of calcium during pregnancy and nursing. Symptoms include seizures, staggering, muscle tremors, restlessness, and excessive panting. Hypocalcemia is also a veterinary emergency. FIXNATION | TRAP-NEUTER-RETURN TNR PROGRAM | FERAL CATS Trap-Neuter-Return is a proven and humane solution. On the other hand, Trap-Neuter-Return programs are a very successful method of decreasing feral cat populations. TNR programs succeed at the least cost to the public and provide the best possible life for the cats themselves. Therefore, FixNation devotes most of its resources – financial FIXNATION TRAP-NEUTER-RETURN TNR TRAP LOAN PROGRAM FixNation loans out humane traps, carriers and equipment free of charge to the public, provided you are using our services. The traps we loan out are humane traps that won’t harm the cats. While the traps may look intimidating, they are actually very safe. Using a humane trap is the safest solution to catch a feral TIPS FOR CARING FOR NEWBORN KITTENS Newborn kittens need to be bed by bottle every 2-3 hours (yes, even throughout the night), so set an alarm before you go to bed. Even if kittens are asleep they need to be awakened and fed to stay on schedule. For the first two weeks they will only consume very small amounts of milk at a time, hence the need for frequent feedings.
