NSDI FRAMEWORK
NSDI Framework. The National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) is a means to assemble geographic data nationwide to serve a variety of users. GIS applications of many different disciplines have a recurring need for a few themes of data. ISO GEOSPATIAL METADATA STANDARDS In 1999 the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Technical Committee (TC) 211 Geographic Information / Geomatics was tasked to harmonize the FGDC Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM) with other formal and defacto standards that support the documentation of geospatial data and services. The resultant ISO 19115: Geographic information - Metadata standard HISTORY OF DIGITAL CARTOGRAPHY Featuring data from approximately 50,000 locations, it represents the only total survey and cartographic depiction of the dialects of a language. With their as yet unmatched clarity, the 1,668 hand-drawn maps are a cultural historical asset of the first order. SPATIAL DATA TRANSFER STANDARD (SDTS), PARTS 1-7 GML was originally developed by OGC, which is an international industry consortium of nearly 500 companies, government agencies and universities that participate in a open consensus process to develop publicly available interface standards. The OGC lists 40 organizations with 89 products with 95 implementations of GML 3.2.1. GML 3.2.1 was DIGITAL CARTOGRAPHIC STANDARD FOR GEOLOGIC MAP The standard is designed for use by anyone who either produces or uses digital geologic-map information. The standard applies to geologic-map information published by the Federal government in both offset-print and plot-on-demand formats.
