The storm which inflicted damage to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Easton happened almost three years ago, on Sept. 20, 2018. In addition to damaging the roof and part of the interior of the building, the church steeple and bell tower also fell to the ground. “Thankfully, the bells (there are three of OBITUARIES | NEWS, SPORTS, JOBS Alan J. Perrizo, 87. May 14, 2021. Mapleton/Delavan – Alan Joseph Perrizo, age 87, passed away May 6, 2021 in Mapleton, of kidney failure. Alan was born Dec. 5, 1933 in Delavan, the son of Henry and Mary (Schwartz) Perrizo, the youngest of 10 children. Alan lived and farmed on the family farm in Delavan for most of his OBITUARIES | NEWS, SPORTS, JOBS April 23, 2021. Blue Earth – Michael Charles Klopp, age 56, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Blue Earth on April 12, 2021. Michael was born Dec. 30, 1964 to Raymond and Jeanne (Klump) Klopp. He graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1985. Michael was a long-time employee of Tafco Equipment Company REMEMBERING PAUL HEDBERG Legendary Blue Earth radio broadcaster and station owner Paul Hedberg died on Thursday, May 27, at his home in Southlake, Texas, just one day shy of his 82nd birthday. Hedberg was well known in the Blue Earth area for two main things. BEA’S GRADUATION OPEN TO THE PUBLIC Fletcher also discussed other dates and events leading up to the final day of classes for this school year. “The last student day for kids in grades K-11 is June 4,” she mentioned. “Seniors will have their last day on June 3 and will come in for graduation rehearsal on June 4. Commencement ceremonies will be on June 6, at 2 p.m.”. NORM HALL – SIGNING OFF FOR THE LAST TIME Norm Hall – signing off for the last time. Long-time KBEW news director Norm Hall is set to retire on May 31 after 30 years on the air. After 30 years of bringing the residents of the Blue Earth area the news on KBEW radio, Norm Hall is hanging up his headphones, turning off his mic, and retiring. His last day is May 31. JAKE’S PIZZA ROOF COLLAPSES IN WELLS The Jake’s Pizza building in Wells has been boarded up and cordoned off since the roof collapsed back on Feb. 24. The buckled wall is also visible in this photo on the left side of the downtown Wells building. A landmark pizza eatery in Wells is currently closed following the events of Feb. 24. Dawn Navara, owner of Jake’s Pizza, located on NEW OWNERS AT GARTZKE’S A Blue Earth business that has been around since 1933 is going to continue on, but now under new ownership.
