It’s back again! March 9. Craft brewery tasting in Dubbo. I went along last year and, although quite hot and lacking shade, there was a fantastic range of craft beers on offer to taste. This year, given the new shady location, should be fantastic! Grab your tickets at 123tix. https://www.123tix.com.au/events/2979/beers-to-the-bush Posted in News & Info | Comments Off on Beers to the bush 2019 BUY FROM LOCAL FARMERS Posted on August 8, 2018 by wayne Here are some farms around Dubbo that sell directly to the public. http://www.bathurstwholefood.org Organic F&V locally sourced. Here are some other places in or near Dubbo with good organic options: MOJO’S DAILY SCOOP http://majosdailyscoop.com.au A fantastic selection of organic flours, grains, dried fruit, nuts spices etc. In terms of local produce they have locally produced eggs, honey, olive oil, goat milk soap, bacon, sausages and more.MY FARM SHOP
https://myfarmshop.com.au/ Beef, lamb, chicken. Joel Salatin Style. Not local to Dubbo but stillNSW farmers.
I wonder how many people have given money to drought relief yet still buy overseas berries, overseas sultanas, overseas tinned fruit, overseas tinned tomatoes. (Maybe check in your cupboard now!) It’s easy to feel emotional about supporting local farmers and then go and buy overseas products from the supermarket. (Dick Smith foods has just announced they are closing due to lack of support for localfood.)
If we are really concerned for local farmers we might also try to shift our habits and buy locally produced food. This means buy Australian instead of overseas but more particularly food produced inour region.
Sometimes it will cost more to buy locally. Sometimes it will cost less. Sometimes the product will be better. Sometimes it will be worse. But at least in these cases your money is going straight to thefarmer.
