PROTESTANTISM AND THE FILIOQUE, A GOOD ARGUMENT Currently reading and enjoying H J A Sire’s Phoenix from the Ashes, I came upon a passage that presented an argument worth spreading far and wide.It involves the doctrinal incongruity within Protestantism resulting from the so-called “Reformers'” acceptance of the Filioque, a doctrine that is not, as our separated Eastern Orthodox brethren would point out, contained in Holy Scripture LAST WORDS OF JOHN XXIII: 'STOP THE COUNCIL' That Pope John XXIII wanted to close the Council after its first session was affirmed by John Cardinal Heenan of England (see source in linked post) and by Catholic philosopher Jean Guitton the only lay peritus at Vatican II. Guitton’s name sparks a memory of mine. While studying in Rome in 1974 I lived at the Norbertine Generalate House. GOOD ADVICE ON DEALING WITH ANGER Just forget it.”.
