TIRE MILEAGE CHART

Starting in the summer of 2009 we began listing and detailing just the mileage we’ve gotten from various tires. We typically remove tires when it reaches the wear-bars or slightly before (unless otherwise noted). We also replace tires in sets, so we won’t be listing different mileage from the front and rear tires. The goal of this page is to allow you to see what mileage we’ve gotten and CARHARTT DOUBLE-FRONT DUNGAREES Here’s why: First, the Carhartt double-front pant (as the name suggests) has two layers of tough, 12-ounce 100% top quality cotton duck covering the fronts of one’s legs, chap-style. The double fronts have “cleanout” bottoms, designed to allow dirt and grit to escape, but that also allows for the insertion of knee pads. HOW TO FIX THE MULTISTRADA 1200 REAR BRAKES The Ducati Multistrada 1200 rear brakes are terrible. It’s a well-documented gripe. While we’ve seen (and tried) dozens of different solutions that claim to solve the mushy rear brake on the Multi-12, none of them have ever actually worked for us. Thanks to some insider information, we were able to identify exactly why the rear brake sucks and then find a solution. We even went so far as MOTORCYCLE PACKING LIST We’ve been asked so many times, “what should I pack?” that we finally decided to put something on the website. MOTORCYCLE TREASURE MAPS British Columbia. North of Washington and Idaho, British Columbia has some of the most stunning scenery we’ve enjoyed. Crossing the border, the significantly lower population densities are immediately apparent, as is the tendency for Canadians to be friendlier and a bit

more courteous.

A BETTER WAY TO CORNER OR TURN A MOTORCYCLE | There is a better way to corner a motorcycle than the way you may have been taught in your basic rider course. This is more efficient and a

safer way to turn.

HOW TO INSTALL MOTORCYCLE HEATED GRIPS So, you are more than just a fair weather rider, or you ride in an area, such as Utah, where a days riding could send you from triple-digit heat to snow-on-the-side-of-the-road cold. Carrying multiple pairs of gloves is a pain, besides you have to stop to swap them out, and if it warms up, you have to stop and repeat the process all over again. I hate that. How it works is this; Take you favorite chain lube and wrap the copper wire around the can. Insert the tip of the tiny plastic nozzle into a pre-drilled hole in the top of the thermoplastic body. Place the plastic body over the top of the chain, supporting it

There are plethoras of mesh/nylon jackets that offer amazing breathability but offer a minimum of protection. If you feel better wearing the most protective gear you can get your hands on, mesh doesn’t quite cut it. Perforated leather jackets are out there, but they CONTINENTAL SPORT ATTACK 3 REVIEW In order to keep up with the rapid pace of tire development, Continental has just wrapped up three and a half years of work on their newest hypersport tire; the Sport Attack 3. Unlike many of the competitor’s tires that are rebadged race tires offered to street riders, Continental promises their newest hypersport tire was designed for the real-world street rider who spends most of their time DYNOJET POWER COMMANDER AND OPTIMIZER Dynojet offers an additional module called the “AutoTune” ($259) that maintains continual communication with the Power Commander V and makes constant adjustments to the air/fuel ratio’s, just like the dynamometer does. So, back when I bought the Suzuki V-Strom, what I was really after was a tall, comfortable road bike that was fun to ride. I had no delusions of it being a dirt bike. It was, for the most part, a sales flop in the United States, but the fact that it has turned into a wildly popular cult bike tells me that the design was ahead of its time.

The goal of this page is to allow you to see what mileage we’ve gotten and CARHARTT DOUBLE-FRONT DUNGAREES We fully understand the need for protective gear, but the best gear in the world does you little good if you never wear it. Finding good motorcycle riding pants is pretty gosh darn hard. We know; we’ve tried lots and lots of ’em. Seems like they are all too specialized. Most are bulky, cumbersome and just a hassle to deal with. Either we felt like we were wearing a snowmobile suit because HOW I DEAL WITH KIDS IN MY DRIVEWAY Every night I would get an alert from my driveway security camera, and at first I was a bit annoyed, but then I found myself looking forward to the evening alert. CONTINENTAL TKC-80 TWINDURO TIRE REVIEW The Continental TKC-80 “Twinduro” was designed and developed as a competition off-road tire for heavy off-road/enduro bikes. It was developed in collaboration with Richard Schalber. In case you aren’t aware of Richard Shalber, he holds multiple world championships in Enduro and Motocross, finished fifth in the Paris-Dakar, has raced virtually every brand of motorcycle and has spent the HOW TO INSTALL MOTORCYCLE HEATED GRIPS So, you are more than just a fair weather rider, or you ride in an area, such as Utah, where a days riding could send you from triple-digit heat to snow-on-the-side-of-the-road cold. Carrying multiple pairs of gloves is a pain, besides you have to stop to swap them out, and if it warms up, you have to stop and repeat the process all over again. I hate that. But I also hate cold hands. So HOW TO FIX THE MULTISTRADA 1200 REAR BRAKES The Ducati Multistrada 1200 rear brakes are terrible. The GPS could run off batteries, but the heated stuff has to run off the bikes power. If you hook things up directly to the battery, they work well enough, but will stay on, even after they key RIDING TECHNIQUES ARCHIVES There is a better way to corner a motorcycle than the way you may have been taught in your basic rider course. ACCESSORIES ARCHIVES Before getting started we should quickly mention what not to buy the motorcyclist in your life. Avoid buying them oil, tires, chain lube, helmets, visors, gloves or any riding gear as a general rule. But I also hate cold hands. So MOTORCYCLE PACKING LIST We’ve been asked so many times, “what should I pack?” that we finally decided to put something on the website. This list is intended to cover a rider for about three to five days on the road. Longer rides require appropriate adjustments in clothing etc (or plans to stop and do laundry). This list has also been created with over 70 years of combined road-trip experience. While watching THE AMAZING HONDA HAWK GT NT650 The Honda Hawk GT holds a very special place in my heart. Unfortunately, adjusting the valves on the Triumph triple motor is the most difficult valve adjustment I have ever done. I would daresay that the triple ALPINESTARS S-MX AIR FLO VENTED RIDING JACKET Finding a quality leather jacket to handle the most intense heat summer months can offer is not as easy as you would think. There are plethoras of mesh/nylon jackets that offer amazing breathability but offer a minimum of protection. If you feel better wearing the most protective gear you can get your hands on, mesh doesn’t quite cut it. Perforated leather jackets are out there, but they TRIUMPH TIGER 1050 TEST RIDE AND REVIEW So, back when I bought the Suzuki V-Strom, what I was really after was a tall, comfortable road bike that was fun to ride. I had no delusions of it being a dirt bike. Well, maybe a little delusionbut a couple of dirt rides over some pretty gnarly terrain cured me of that right quick. Yet, the VStrom is a phenomenal road bike and with some money spent on suspension upgrades, I had it set up
