ARDUINO 1.8.13 HAS BEEN RELEASED Arduino 1.8.13 has been released. Arduino Team — June 17th, 2020. Today, we are excited to announce the arrival of the Arduino IDE 1.8.13. Significant improvements include fixing the crash on Mac OS X with multiple monitor setups and resolving the recent package_index.json issue without other user intervention. CHICKEN COOP DOOR AUTOMATION WITH ARDUINO When Geert Wanten’s wife got tired of opening up the chicken coop to let them out in the morning, he decided to automate the situation using an Arduino Nano. Wanten’s DIY system calculates the sunup/sundown via info from a DS1307 RTC module, pulling the door up with a gearmotor and a spool of fishing line. TOP 10 CREATIVE PROJECTS FROM ARDUINO DAY COMMUNITY CHALLENGE With over 170 creative projects sent in from around the world, choosing just 10 winners for the Arduino Day Community Challenge was almost impossible.. Hopefully you were with us on Arduino Day, and saw the winning projects being unveiled during the live stream. But we also wanted to send out another big congratulations to the inventive Arduino lovers who won. ARDUINO 1.8.12 IS OUT! Arduino 1.8.12 is out! Arduino Team — February 13th, 2020. Today, we are excited to announce the arrival of the Arduino IDE 1.8.12. Wow! Another release just after two weeks, you ask? Well, we fixed some serious bugs related to the compiler, and more importantly, we had to take a step back with respect to the transition to the new Java WEAVING JUST GOT A LOT BETTER THANKS TO THIS ARDUINO Lea Albaugh and her team at Carnegie Mellon University found an affordable way to build a Jacquard loom from 3D printer parts — including an Arduino-based controller. The key development for this Jacquard loom was a special bistable switch for each heddle. Those switches keep their heddles in the position in which they were lastset.
THE ARDUINO NANO RP2040 CONNECT IS HERE The RP2040 Processor. Working with the Raspberry Pi Foundation is nothing short of a pleasure. The teams there make some incredible devices, and their first in-house silicon is no exception. These guys get it. This system-on-a-chip is a 32-bit dual-core Arm Cortex-M0+ microcontroller, clocked at 133MHz and is powerful enough to runTensorFlow Lite.

NEW WORKFLOW FOR ARDUINO LIBRARY SUBMISSIONS Arduino library submissions have a new, easier and more transparent workflow. Libraries are one of the pillars of the Arduino ecosystem. At time of writing, more than 3,780 open source libraries are available to perform any kind of task. This includes communication with external components and using algorithms for data processing. THIS DISGUISED CAMPSITE SECURITY SYSTEM LETS YOU KNOW 1 day ago · Motion sensors for home security stick out like a sore thumb, as their shiny white exteriors can be easily seen from a distance. This is made worse when camping, as small, discrete security devices that blend into their surroundings are even harder to come by. Because deaf parents are unable to hear the difference between certain cries, the Nano 33 BLE Sense that controls the device runs a model trained with Edge Impulse that can distinguish between cries for pain, hunger, and general malaise. THIS SENSORY EXTENSION PUPPET LETS YOU DETECT MAGNETIC Birds have an amazing sense of direction that aids in migrating across vast distances, and scientists think this is due to their ability to detect magnetic fields — just like a compass. Chris Hill on Instructables wanted a way to experience this for himself by using a sensor and some sort of feedback mechanism to feel a magnetic field’s directionality and strength. NO OPPONENT NEARBY? NOT A PROBLEM! THIS AUTOMATIC Chess is an excellent game to play with friends, but what if you don’t have any to compete against nearby? This is what prompted maker Carlos Pendas to create an automatic chessboard that’s not only able to record which pieces got moved, but even move the pieces itself. This means you can play a game of physical chess with someone thousands of miles away. * A SIMPLE ARDUINO-BASED TACHOMETER RC remotes and Arduino: a tutorial Arduino Starter Kit is here to RockBlog Home
A SIMPLE ARDUINO-BASED TACHOMETER Alessandro Paganelli — September 6th, 2012 Chris, from PyroElectro.com , proposes a comprehensive tutorial on how to make a simple, yet effective, Arduino-based tachometer. The circuit is very simple: an IR led is coupled with an IR phototransistor to detect possible interruptions of the light beam, while the Arduino is responsible to calculate the time interval between two such events. Finally, a LCD is used to display the current RPM to the user. To validate his project, a typical computer fan has been used in the set-up and the outcomes have demonstrated to be very close to the true RPM value (2600 +/- 100 RPMs). The bill of materials, as well as the schematic, the source code and a detailed tutorial on how to build the circuit is available here.
