PUERTA DE SAN ESTEBAN Siguiendo nuestro camino por el costado occidental de la Mezquita-Catedral nos encontramos con la Puerta de San Esteban, probablemente, la más representativa y rica, en cuanto a su calidad artística, que nos ha llegado del período musulmán.Un manuscrito fechado a mediados del siglo XVIII dice así: “la (puerta) siguiente, de San Sebastián, por dar frente a este hospital PUERTA DE LOS DEANES El otro acceso por el que podemos ingresar en el interior del Patio de los Naranjos por el lado occidental es, además del Postigo de la Leche la Puerta de los Deanes.Los orígenes de este antiguo pórtico los encontramos en la primitiva Mezquita Aljama de Córdoba, que realizara Abderramán I a finales del siglo VIII. The current arrangement of Corredera Square is the result of the works carried out between 1683 and 1687 by Chief Magistrate Francisco Ronquillo Briceño.These were motivated by the almost collapse of one of the wooden stalls that were back then installed for the bullfightings held in the square, which made the audience panic. The Royal Stables of Córdoba were declared National Historical Monument in 1929, and they started to be part of the National Heritage.They were founded through a decree by King Felipe II (1556-1598) in 1570, with the objectve of breeding Spanish thoroughbred horses, at THE HERMITAGE OF CÓRDOBA The Hermitages. Medina Azahara (Madinat al-Zahra) or the “Bright City”, for Muslims, was built on the hillside of the mountain range of Córdoba (on the Chabdál al-Arus or “Mount of the Bride”) in the northwest of the city of Córdoba.It is one of the most important archaeological sites in Spain, and it was commissioned by the first Caliph from Córdoba, Abderraman III, an-Násir. THE JEWISH PEOPLE AND THE SYNAGOGUE OF CORDOBA In order to know the origins of the Jewish quarter we need to go back to Roman times, especially the years when Córdoba had the status of Colonia Patricia.From Augustus’s times, the walled perimeter of the city was extended towards the south, and therefore the area occupied by the Jewish quarter today started to be organized and urbanized. SYNAGOGUE OF CORDOBA Of all the monuments preserved in our city, it is probably the Synagogue of Córdoba the one with the lowest dissemination.
