ARM RESEARCH FACILITY ARM Aerial Facility (AAF): The AAF obtains aerial measurements in the skies above the fixed-location and AMF observatories. The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) funded the purchase of a Bombardier Challenger 850 regional jet to expand ARM’s scientific data capabilities. The Challenger 850 is expected to be ready for its first ARM campaign in 2023. ARM RESEARCH FACILITY ARM acquires airborne measurements during intensive field campaigns or long-term, regularly scheduled flights. Scientists can request these through the competitive ARM field campaign application process.. Once collected, data from the aircraft are documented, checked for quality, integrated into the ARM Data Center, and made freely available via Data Discovery for use by the ARM RESEARCH FACILITY In support of MOSAIC, ARM will operate its second ARM Mobile Facility (AMF2) and Mobile Aerosol Observing System at the central observatory as it drifts through the central Arctic for a 13-14-month campaign starting in September 2019. Sea ice is an integrator of energy fluxes in the coupled Arctic climate system; thus, atmosphere-ice-ocean ARM RESEARCH FACILITY In response to these calls, the Surface Atmosphere Integrated Field Laboratory (SAIL) will make measurements using the second ARM Mobile Facility (AMF2) and a scanning X-band dual polarimetric radar near Crested Butte, Colorado. ARM RESEARCH FACILITY The Eastern North Atlantic (ENA) atmospheric observatory is the newest measurement site established by the Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) user facility. This observatory is located on Graciosa Island in the Azores archipelago. The Azores are located in the northeastern Atlantic Ocean west of Portugal. ARM RESEARCH FACILITY The ultra-high-sensitivity aerosol spectrometer (UHSAS) is an optical-scattering, laser-based, aerosol particle spectrometer system for sizing particles in the 60 to 1000 nanometer (nm) range . The instrument counts particles in up to 100 user-specified sizing bins. The instrument’s laser illuminates particles, which scatterlight.
ARM RESEARCH FACILITY The ARM Climate Research Facility in the Amazon Basin sought to understand aerosol and cloud life cycles, particularly the susceptibility to cloud aerosol precipitation interactions, within the Amazon Basin. The ARM Mobile Facility was located downwind of the city of Manaus, Brazil (3 6' 47" S, 60 1' 31" W) near Manacapuru fromJanuary 2014 to
