ABOUT. Construction of Amelia Earhart's birthplace and childhood home, located at 223 N. Terrace, initially began in 1861. The wood-frame, Gothic Revival cottage is perched high on the west bank of the scenic Missouri River. Amelia was born in the home on JulyEXPERIENCE | MYSITE
The 1940's home grew from a one-room cabin to a three-floor home from 1961 to 1972. Amelia was born here in 1897 and lived here from three to twelve years old. . Come and walk back in time and be inspired. OPEN: We are open for tours by appointment from 9 am toTICKETS | MYSITE

WHY DO AVIATORS WEAR HATS? HOW MANY HATS DID AMELIA HAVE? Aviators wore what was called an “aviator hat,” also known as the “bomber hat.” The caps were made from leather and had large earflaps. And it was already quite popular among pilots during the early 20th century. If you watch Charles Lindbergh’s or Amelia Earhart’s old films, you can see them wearing these caps. Mentalfloss.com had some interesting history on aviation hats. NATIONAL HAT DAY IS JANUARY 15TH National Hat Day, January 15th - How many hats did Amelia have?
