AFRICABIB | THE OWNERLESS LANDS OF GHANA Subject: property rights. Abstract: A doctrine, which appears so far to have been unquestioned, is that in Ghana there is no land without an owner. Its implication seems to be that for every piece of land in the country it is possible to identify an owner. In the opinion of the author the general application of this doctrine is not justified. AFRICABIB | UNIVERSALISM AND PARTICULARISM: AFRICAN It concludes that the challenge for contemporary African philosophy is to effect a reconciliation between traditional African values and the knowledge arising out of modern experience. The tension between universalism and particularism may then turn out to be productive, and lead to both indigenous authenticity and conversation with the broader AFRICABIB | THE ALLODIAL TITLE TO LAND The article describes the customary law interest in land which was not traditionally held by a tenant from a lord.
