About. Welcome to Zutrinken, where we share drink recipes and stories for home bartenders, booze enthusiasts and party makers. I spent 7 years bartending in Portland and Berlin. DRINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX Alex (L) and Gregor (R) deliver the Glük Weine. Wine in a box still has something of a stigma in Germany. The exact same could be said about beer in a can until very recently.VIEUX CARRÉ
The key to this drink is getting it freezing cold and achieving proper ice dilution. Be sure to stir vigorously for at least 40 seconds. When the liquid is ice cold, stop stirring and take a taste. It should be velvety smooth with zero hint of sharpness from the booze. If it’s still a little sharp, keep stirring.NEW YORK SOUR

Originating in the Carribean where pimento trees grow, it’s most commonly used in a tiki context or in the classic Lion’s Tail, where tart lime juice provides a bold contrast to the seriously intense allspice flavor.WHISKEY SOUR
Whiskey sour is one of my favorite cocktails. It’s so simple — 2 parts whiskey, 1 part citrus, 1 part simple syrup and egg white. I typically use Fee Foam instead of egg white, but do what you want.. If you’re just getting into bartending, this is an excellent base recipe to have up your sleeve.GRASSHOPPER
The Grasshopper is a dessert cocktail with a special place in my heart. The Hungarian side of my family used to prepare an extra decadent blended version with vanilla ice cream at Christmas time. The Manhattan is pure, unassuming decadence. The recipe is so simple — just 2 parts rye whiskey, 1 part sweet vermouth and a couple dashes of bitters.WHISKEY SOUR
