DIESEL COMPRESSION TESTING Most diesel test kits use the glow plug hole. I have a set that has about 14 different adaptors for different makes. A couple use the injector port IIRC. The Navistar 6.9 and 7.3 use the GP hole, 10mm 1.0 pitch. I use an oil filled gauge that reads to 1000 PSI. Most I have seen is 465 lbs. So, I have a '02 automatic. If I would take this truck and convert it to a manual, I would not require a cat, because the truck came without cat from the factory? If your truck came from the factory with a cat, then I believe it would have to be there no matter what transmission modifications you did in Calif. The VIN would have the factory drivetrain info in it. And if I'm not mistaken the federal emissions label under the hood would reflect OBD compliance and catalytic convertor.
