LAST YEAR!! While sipping my Sunday morning coffee, I turned to look out of the kitchen window to notice a Mourning Dove sitting in one of my flower boxes on my deck. After my wife and kids had a good look, I dressed into my shorts and t-shirt and began a day of yard work. My family and I spent a solid ten hours planting flowers, cutting grass DOVES NESTING IN TREE For the past 4 years or so, we get Mourning Doves nesting in our Willow Tree. Due to recent storms in the Houston area, we lost a major branch from the tree. This spring, to our surprise the Doves returned. They weren't phased by the limb and previous nest's disappearance. Created a nest in a new branch and went about their business. PURPLE FINCH MATING, NESTING, AND FEEDING HABITS Purple Finch Call. Often confused with the much more common House Finch often seen at bird feeders, this finch does not seem to show up in the numbers of House Finches.. The female has a well defined pattern on the face, broad white eyebrow, brown eyeline, and whitecheek.
