20/09 ONE BOAT RESCUED AND BROUGHT TO LAMPEDUSA 20/09 One boat rescued and brought to Lampedusa. Situation: 30-40 travellers left adrift for many hours before finally being rescued and brought to Lampedusa. On Sunday the 20th of Septemer at 13.56 CEST, the Alarm Phone shift team received a call from a relative, alerting us to a boat with around 30-40 travelers on board. Document human rights violations at sea such as pushbacks etc. for example by taking photographs. 03/02: 35 PEOPLE ATTACKED AND THEN RESCUED TO MYTILENE 03/02: 35 people attacked and then rescued to Mytilene. On 3rd February 2021, we were called from an inflatable boat in distress at 07:35h CET. The boat was carrying 20 women, two of whom were pregnant, 13 men and two children. They reported having been attacked by a largeboat.
25/12: THREE YOUNG MEN STRANDED ON LESVOS 25/12: Three young men stranded on Lesvos. At 07:39h CET on 25 December, we were contacted by three young men from the Congo. They had become separated from a group who were being taken to the quarantine centre on Lesvos. Having been attacked and pushed back by the Greek authorities in a previous attempt to cross, they were afraidof a repeat.
07/02: 16 PEOPLE STRANDED ON LESVOS FOR TWO NIGHTS THEN 07/02: 16 people stranded on Lesvos for two nights then taken into quarantine. On 7th of February at 08:35h CET we were contacted by a journalist who was in touch with a group of travelers stranded on Lesvos. They had arrived on 6 February and were hiding in the woods. 17/10: 18 PEOPLE RESCUED TO CARTAGENA 17/10: 18 people rescued to Cartagena. At just past 20:00 CEST in the evening of 17 October, we were contacted by some concerned relatives of somebody who had left Algeria heading for Spain. They had left the night before. At 01.18h Watch the Med Alarm Phone was alerted to a case of 21 men, who had left Dakhla in the early morning of March 19th 2020. The boat was blue, with a white Yamaha motor. At 07:39h CET on 25 December, we were contacted by three young men from the Congo. They had become separated from a group who were being taken to the quarantine centre on Lesvos. Having been attacked and pushed back by the Greek authorities in a previous attempt to cross, they were afraidof a repeat.
21/02 : TWO BOATS BROUGHT BACK TO LIBYA The 21th of February the Alarm Phone was informed about two boats in distress who had left from Libya. In both cases we were not able to gather sufficient information, but were later on informed that both boats had been returned to Libya.
