Fairfax CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) serve to help children who have entered the court system find permanent, safe homes. CASA volunteers are average citizens. They are not (but may have once been) social workers or lawyers. They are citizens trained to help children have a voice. NONPROFIT TRAINING WORKSHOPS & WEBINARS Trainings offered by Volunteer Fairfax may be used to meet the requirements for applying for or renewing the Certified in Volunteer Administration (CVA) credential. One Professional Development Unit (PDU) is awarded for each 50-60 minute session or contact hour in 2020 COMMUNITY CHAMPIONS 2020 Community Champions. As part of the annual Volunteer Service Awards, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors selects an individual to be recognized for their commitment to promoting volunteerism within their community while addressing specific needs. Representing each district in Fairfax County, the Community Champions are listed below. YOUTH & FAMILY VOLUNTEERING Consider family volunteering or getting your youth started in being an active community member. Donating time with each other is always a unique way for your family to spend time together while helping your community. In addition, individuals under 18 who want to make a difference or earn hours for school can also take advantage of our RSVP NORTHERN VIRGINIA RSVP-Northern Virginia has taken on that honeybee as a symbol of the AmeriCorps Seniors volunteer. For at the first immediate call for help, our volunteers swarm the community, find needs and gaps, and fill them in with their precious time. While one volunteer may not be able to provide all the assistance needed, our army helps createbridges.
