ABOUT VINODIVERSITY
Vinodiversity is a project of Darby Higgs, a Melbourne based wine writer and enthusiast. You can see how Darby became a wine writer in this blog article. This website and the associated publications deal primarily with Australian wine made using "alternative" grape varieties. While Darby has no formal wine qualifications he has beenexploring
NORTON WINE GRAPE VARIETY Norton Wine Variety. Norton is widely regarded as the best of the American vine species to produce a wine which tastes most like wine made from V.vinifera.In fact many tasters cannot distinguish Norton from wines made with European varieties. The variety originated in Virginia in the Ninteenth Century.WINE VARIETY TABLE

De Long's Wine Variety Table is a great way to have a fixed image to recall from that memory device between your ears. RARE VARIETALS IN AUSTRALIA Caracosa. A vineyard with a variety of this name is located in Rutherglen, formerly owned by Seppelt, now part of Rutherglen Estates. It is a red variety used mainly for fortified wines. Matt Partridge Viticulturist at Rutherglen Estates tells me the the variety is now believed to be a clone of Shiraz. BARBERA WINE VARIETY IN AUSTRALIA The savory flavours and high acid levels in many Barbera wines make them ideal accompaniments to Italian style cuisine. If you are serving charcuterie or a meaty antipasto, Barbera's sharpness can make it a great choice of wine. TINTA CAO RED WINE VARIETY Tinto Cao Red Wine Variety. Tinto Cao the name means Red Dog in Portuguese, is a red wine variety formerly used chiefly as part of the blend in Port. Nowadays the variety is increasing used in red wine blends and occasionally as a varietal dry red wine. CONTACT VINODIVERSITY Contact Vinodiversity.
