WORKER SACKED FOR POOR INTERNET CONNECTIVITY DURING The TSSA is calling for Dingwall employer NSL to reinstate one of their members after she was sacked for poor internet connectivity which affected her ability to work from home during lockdown.. Invergordon resident Baylee Morrison was fired after being called to a meeting to discuss the problems she was having getting online at home to carry out her work for outsource company NSL. UNION ANGER AS NHS PAY DECISION POSTPONED UNTIL AFTER Unions have expressed anger that a decision on NHS pay has been postponed until after May’s local elections. Unions yesterday gave evidence to the NHS Pay Review Body, lobbying for a pay rise for NHS workers. Unite was told by the body it would give BFAWU CALLS FOR TOUGHER LEGISLATION TO PROTECT WORKERS IN The BFAWU has called for tougher legislation – not more guidelines – to stop bosses putting workers at risk during the coronavirus crisis. Speaking after garment factories in Leicester were revealed to have been operating without social distancing, hand sanitiser and PPE, BFAWU regional organiser George Atwall said: “Since the pandemic GED NICOLS ELECTED NEW TUC PRESIDENT Ged Nichols has been elected as the new President of the TUC. Ged, who is general secretary of the specialist finance union Accord, will serve in the role for a year and preside over the next TUC Congress in September 2020. He will also chair the TUC’s general council and executive committee. BRITISH AIRWAYS FACES MULTI-MILLION POUND COMPENSATION Unite has welcomed a Court of Appeal ruling that British Airways has breached the part-time workers’ regulations. The decision, upholding earlier Employment Tribunal and Employment Appeal Tribunal decisions, is part of an ongoing legal case supported by Unite and the union’s BASSA branch.
