The United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) was established in Australia in November 1948. Based in Canberra, it is the peak of the formal diplomatic UN presence in Australia and the principal local source of information about the United Nations system. Its information-related responsibilities also extend to Fiji, Kiribati,Nauru, New Zealand

The United Nations Association of Australia (UNAA) believes Australia needs to be both pragmatic and compassionate in its national planning and responses to the current unprecedented numbers of refugees and internally displaced persons around the world, and to contribute purposefully to regional and global solutions. AUSTRALIA AND UN SECURITY COUNCIL Australia has been a member of the UN Security Council on five occasions: 1946–47, 1956–57, 1973–74, 1985–86 and 2013-2014. Australia played an important role in drafting the articles of the UN Charter that deal with the Security Council, arguing against allowing permanent members a veto power.AWARDS PROGRAMS
The Yolande Frank Art Award is a competition for Western Australian children in school years 4 to 6. This award promotes the importance of human rights education.
