VENUE HIRE
-------------------------WELCOME
BUILT IN 1870, MCCROSSINâS MILL IS A LOVINGLY RESTORED THREE STOREY FLOUR MILL WHICH NOW HOUSES A MULTI-AWARD WINNING MUSEUM, GALLERY AND FUNCTION CENTRE. MANY LOCALS ONCE BELIEVED THE âOLD MILLâ TO BE HAUNTED. NOW IT IS HAUNTINGLY BEAUTIFUL AND A KEY LOCAL TREASURE. Occupying the ground floor, a series of nine paintings by artist Phillip Pomeroy depict the fatal events of 25 May 1870, when Constable Alexander Walker brought an end to the reign of gentleman bushranger, Captain Thunderbolt. McCrossinâs Mill Museum is renowned for its empathetic, humorous and even bizarre exhibitions. Its collection of Chinese artefacts from the Rocky River Goldfields is recognised as being of National Significance. McCrossinâs Mill Museum Exhibitions include: Thunderbolt: Life and Legend ; A Dark Red Rose: Corporal Cecil
Stokerâs Story, Trickettâs Triumphand Sunny Jim
Mackay
,
Australiaâs first World Champion Sportsmen and much more. -------------------------REALLY!
WE REALLY DO OWN A REAL MUSEUM WITH GENUINE ARTEFACTS. NOT PHOTOGRAPHS OF, NOT VIDEOS OF, NOT HOLOGRAMS OF, NOT WEBSITE LINKS TO . . . NO THE REAL THING!! If we wanted to brag, we might well start with the buildings, our first and enduring exhibits. It seems Iâm now the only member who was there from day one, OCTOBER 1979, when the decision was made to save the Mill. And then came the learning of lots about heritage integrity from architect PETER MYERS and builders BOB MAZE AND KIRKABBOTT.
I admire the buildings so intensely because I well know how neglected and despairing they were before we poured all our love into making them feel good again, so ruggedly beautifulâŠread more here Kent Mayo (Hon.
