BAKKLANDET - TRONDHEIM.COM This special section of town is a strong part of Trondheim's cultural identity. Bakklandet was first built in the 17th century, but was partly destroyed when the Swedish under General Armfeldt besieged the city. Reconstruction took place soon after as small houses were erected, for the most part occupied by seamen, fishermen andlabourers.

Vassfjellet. Vassfjellet is a central outdoor area located in Klæbu, Melhus and Trondheim municipality. The area is the only truly high mountain terrain (710 m.) In the central part of the region, and is suitable for outdoor activities throughout the year. The view from the flat top is excellent. TRONDHEIM PUBLIC LIBRARY Trondheim Public Library. The public library offers a wide range of services, from lending books, films and music to a newspaper reading lounge, and special outreach services for immigrants. Inside the building you can see ruins of the old Olaf Church. Parts of the building have also formerly been used as city hall and a prison withdungeons.

Old Town Bridge. Gamle Bybro - The Old Town Bridge - was first built on this site in 1681. At the same time, Kristiansten Fort was under construction. A sentry and excise house stood at either end of the bridge. The excise house on the west side is still standing and is in use as a kindergarten.
