Due to increasing ridership, the Minnesota Transportation Museum decided in 1997 to look for a road locomotive to replace switch engine NP SW1200 105 as the primary diesel locomotive. ABOUT | MINNESOTA TRANSPORTATION MUSEUM Minnesota Transportation Museum (MTM) is located at the historic Jackson Street Roundhouse. This building was originally a steam engine maintenance facility for The Great Northern Railroad. The Roundhouse was built in 1907 and was one of the last roundhouses built by OSCEOLA TRAIN RIDE EXCURSIONS Book an experience like none other in the St. Croix River Valley! Each one of the Transportation Museum’s excursions gives the riders afeel for the past.
