Location: CO Rockies. American Reloading has 3 new powders, called "Midwest Powders". The powders are listed as: MP 530, which is "similar to CFE-223". MP 275, which is "similar to Longshot". WC-846 Military smokeless powder, which is "similar to BL-C2". I'm familiar with WC-846, but never heard of the two other "MP" powders. ACCURATE #2 FOR 38 SPECIAL Western Powders Version 5 has load data for some plated bullets. They do have data for 38 Special with 158 Berry plated SWC with AccurateNo. 2.

My choice of bullets for reloading .38 Spl are .358" lead semi-wadcutter158 gr with 4.7gr Unique. Checking the reloading manuals under .38 Spl, 5.2 gr Unique is ok'd for bullets 110gr to125gr (typical 9mm range of bullet weight). H335 LOADS FOR 55GR .223 Using RMR 55gr FMJBT. Hornady says 20.8 - 23.2. Lyman 50th has a starting load of 24.3. Hodgdon has 23.0 - 25.3. Cases are Win, primers are CCI #450. I use CFE Pistol and Hornady 115 fmj's. The load you mention seems pretty average and should work fine. In my ransom rest testing though Ive personally found that low charges w CFE had the best accuracy. Im using an OAL of 1.15" and a charge of 5.0g. From the ransom rest Im grouping 10 rounds @ 25 yards in 0.9-1" groups. IMR3031 IN THE .223? Location: Hills west of Denver. Arch, I've loaded 3031 powder in my .223 for years, 24.2 grains is what I load, 52 and 53 grain Hornady HP's in my 788 Remington. They've knocked the snot out of many, many P-dogs too.
